SPOCK vrs DARTH VADER

Wait a minute now. I can see this happening in the Trekverse. McCoy would secretly wave a salt shaker over Vader behind his back while Kirk was distracting him, blathering on about something, then go create a batch for Spock. Or, Kirk would negotiate with the midaclorens. After a long diatribe by Kirk, the midaclorens would relent and make Spock all powerful, just to shut Kirk up.
I may have to revise my previous assessment.Comment

Yeah, okay, but then that would be Kirk, Bones AND Spock against Vader. That was not the question and it's not a fair match!
But it doesn't matter anyway. Vader could Force-push or lift all three of them and dash them against a wall. Vader - 3 Entire Enterprise crew - 0Comment

1) If Vader gets to Keep his outfit and helmet, he couldn't be nerve pinched. Also, he is "more machine now than man" so the crazy vulcan judo might be a moot point.
2) As in the classic Superman VS Jesus* argument, would spock use reason and ultimately compassion before resorting to violence? (I'm not a trek guy... this is a serious question!).
Could go either way.
* The following is not a religious statement, merely a hypothetical situation involving super beings!....The Superman vs Jesus question if you have never heard it, is simply that, who would win in a fight Superman or Jesus? The common knee jerk answer is Superman, because Jesus would turn the other cheek. The proper answer is something along the lines that Jesus, being a smart guy, would be easily able to appeal to Superman in a logical pre fight discussion and render force unneccesary. Jesus wins.
I don't know where it comes from, but somebody asks me that question every couple years. I first heard it in High school.Comment

Well yeah, thats very true, but you have to imagine they are being forced to fight. Like in old Flash Gordon strips where Flash was always being forced to fight in some kind of an arena for no apparent reason. Everyone knows if you are forced to fight in an arena against your will and you befriend or ultimately save the life of your opponent, everything works out. Thank you science fiction life lesson #27!!Comment

If Spock and Darth Vader were simply thrown together with no advance warning, I give the fight to Darth. If Spock had an opportunity to study Vader ahead of time, he'd quickly deduce that Vader is being kept alive by the control panel on his chest and he'd figure out a way to disable it from a safe distance.

No, it doesn't. Because Vader, inside a fully operational Death Star, would just blow the U.S.S. Enterprise out of space.
Going back and reading Type1Kirk's original post, he wants to know who would win in a hand to hand combat between the two.
Hand to hand combat, both in their prime, with no tricks (use of force, death pinch, etc.), based upon brute strength....would just be a tough call.Last edited by Megospidey; Apr 8, '08, 8:24 AM.Comment

Christians believe that Jesus is God in human form so if one believes in monotheism and in Jesus' divinity, by definition, he can not be beaten....he can not die...Superman can and the argument ends on that alone. The argument is also based on a pre-crucified Jesus who came not only to teach but to ultimately sacrifice his life."The farther we go, the more the ultimate explanation recedes from us, and all we have left is faith."
