    Abraham Lincoln

Just a tidbit of history, but tonight at 10:00pm EST, would be the 150th anniversary of
the assination of Abraham Lincoln at Fords Theater, I'm curious if there wil be any anniversary
ceremony of silence at the actual site? or something televised showing it?

And, he died on this day 150 years ago.

Lincoln's life, along with his presidency, has been a very interesting topic to me for quite a long time.

Here he is in February of 1865, two months prior to his death:

And, the first photographic image of Lincoln, as president, taken in early 1861. What a difference in appearance.

Lincoln looks 15 years older and the actual difference was about 4 years. Shows what an awful job it was to have even then. Particularly then, but they don't get out looking much better now.

            ^Very welcome.

If any of you ever happen to be in Springfield, Illinois, it's quite worth it to visit Lincoln's Presidential Library and Museum. As you might expect, they have full access to any and every Lincoln related artifacts (including top hat and clothing) and documents that still exist. It's quite impressive and can be quite moving. Close by are his tomb and the home that he and his family lived in for 17 years, both of which are well worth visiting, as well.
