Star Trek/Planet Of The Apes comics

The final issue came out today.

Like is said before, this crossover has special resonance to Mego fans because many Mego fans used to bring their Ape and a Trek figures together for adventures.

I give the series 4 out of 5. If I have any complaint, it's that they made Taylor a little too over the top.

I got all of the issues digitally but with I could have got the wonderful Gold Key like variant covers



The ending has a cute twist too:

When Cornelius, Zira and Milo are in the spaceship watching the Earth blow up, they are trying to figure out what to do. Cornelius brings out a tricorder he ended up keeping and it has a readout on the sling shot effect.

I haven't bought comics for years but I couldn't resist this series.
I too wish I could've snagged those gold key covers!

I really did want to read these, but the confusion of the 9 million different covers and the mediocre interior art/coloring turned me off. WTH is a "dealer incentive cover" anyway???

The digital option is intriguing tho… can you recommend a preferred source of online comics?

The rendering and line work looks solid… I suppose it's the overuse of digital gradients, that smoothy slickness of modern comic production that I find mediocre at best. FFS, somebody pull out a sable brush and the gouache! Biased as well, as I find the grittiness of POTA is one of its attractive timeless qualities.

Still too many covers though… the Gold Key versions should have been the easy choice for these.

Picked up all the issues (the subscriber cover variants), and overall I thought it was a pretty cool series. Really liked the ending. Good artwork and solid writing which captured the voices of the characters for the most part.

Too bad the story line stops after 5 issues, I loved the whole crossover, I was very happy
that it was done, maybe will get some more crossover series in the future?

When I heard about this, I didn't really think too much about it--I've been kind of focusing on other characters lately--but you guys are really making me want to pick up the TPB when it comes out. It could have horrible art and the kid in me should still love it.

That's a cover I'd love to get. Maybe somebody with a POTA jail could stick Spock in there

just got the TPB. I am 2 issues in and loving it. just all around fun for the kid in me
