It's fairly impossible to talk about gun ownership and not have it turn political, especially when it's "in honor of (former NRA president) Charles Heston."

I'm into the old stuff!
45. Caliber Colt single action army......THE classic pistol!
.303 Lee Enfield from WWII, with a custom sport stock (installed in the early fifties)
30-30 Winchester saddle Carbine.
Havent really pursued this much since I moved into the city, but at some point I would love to get an old Henry rifle, Sharps 50 cal., 1860 colt, Smith and Wesson Russian model .44 like Virgil Earp packed, and a ton of other old west firearms.
I've fired Desert Eagles, Uzi's and the like and never really cared for them. Its like cars or motorcycles---Some guys like the newest sport bikes, others prefer classic Harleys, Ariels and Indians....I like the old stuff!"Crayons taste like purple!"Comment

I feel a bit like the token British guy...the one who dressed in red beams
down with the landing party and...."he's gone Jim...""I've just bought a house. It's got a Buck Rogers Toilet. One yank, all gone!"Comment

Yikes!
Nice as they are Colts were definately a dime a dozen item. I dont go to that many gun auctions, but the last time I saw one go for that kind of money (around 4 grand as I recall) the gun was in awesome shape, and came with a boat load of papers proving it was owned by a somewhat famous gun fighter (whose "somewhat famous" name escapes me...?).
...Ooops! Just noticed you said 1853 Colt. This would have been a Patterson not a Peacemaker...and if it still fires would be worth a buck or two."Crayons taste like purple!"Comment

I own a Walther PPK/S and an H&K USP 9. I have my eyes on a Bushmaster M4 (AR-15) but I don't know if I want to lay out the money for it right now.ScottComment
