I just watched the clips from "Ellen." I thought Dave was in better form there... maybe he was just thrown off on Kimmel by getting his nose sliced open by that microphone. But the best moment was on their performance of "Dance the Night Away." On Kimmel Dave pulled a girl out of the audience for an "unscripted" dance session on the stage. I thought that was kind of neat, actually. Then on Ellen, Dave pulled one of Ellen's "production assistants" on to the stage to dance with him... and it was the same girl. I was LMAO.Comment

I knew it was over for Roth as soon as I saw Van Halen getting introduced at the '96 MTV Awards. The other 3 guys looked fine, but Diamond Dave had his pants up to his sternum and was walking around in a daze with his mouth open like he just escaped from Belleview. My wife walked in the room, saw Dave and asked if he recently had a stroke. It was a very awkward appearance. At one point, Dave cuts off Eddie at the mike so he can address the audience. Eddie had to walk away to calm himself; probably thinking, "Here we go again."
You are transparent; I see many things... I see plans within plans.Comment

This is why we'll probably never see a Steve Perry/Journey reunion.Comment

I've always considered the Roth led Van Halen the "true" Van Halen. In all but a few examples I think when a band loses the original lead singer they should just change the name of the band if they are going to continue on with a new singer (Yes, I realize Eddie and Alex were where the name came from but still).
1984 is one of the best albums of the 80's in any genre (IMHO) but I haven't been interest in anything David Lee Roth's done since then, and I sure as hell don't want to see these guys in 2015.Comment
