Help wtd with a line of a song

Hi guys,

It would be awesome if someone would help me with a line of a song I plan to sing next Friday. I wrote it all down except for a phrase in the second verse. Here's a one-minute file that you can check, please help me if you can.

By the way, the song is called "Let you Go" and it's from the new album that Wade Hayes just released last month. With Ken Mellons he might as well be the best voice of the 90's decade in Country music. True country.

I believe the 1st line of the 2nd verse goes
"We tried and tried, but those old ghosts won at last". If someone could confirm that then I'd be very grateful.

I just listened---your "old ghosts" line seems to be the only possibility---I say, even if it isn't---you're still good. Seems very fitting.... you know "Letting things go" being the theme, and all, and "old ghosts" winning out, according to the assumed lyrics.
