Two Phantoms...my artwork THEN and NOW

My first painting from 2000, and my latest from 2015. Interesting to see my progression as a self-taught artist.

Incredible progression Dwayne. But it's apparent even on your first go, that inner ability and natural talent was already trying to bust out. Excellent work my friend.

Thanks Tom...honestly, I can't stand my early stuff. It seems so unfinished to me and almost has a paint by number look to it.

They are both awesome. You can see an exponential skill growth, but don't sell the first one short. It oozes style.

I like both. You do see the skills increase, yes, but I also like the different style of the first one. Your work with the play of light was already strong to begin with.

As far as progress is concerned: I write and draw myself (nowhere near as well as you), and at the end of each project, when I go back to the beginning, I always say "man, the end was so much better".
You'll never say "that's completely perfect", it comes with the territory...

I like both too. I'm a fan of evocative, "simple" art. Art that is comprised of what seems to be simple shapes, but arranged and displayed in provoking ways.

That being said, your latest is just nuts good.

Yikes! that some scary artwork, but in a good way, I think they both came out very nicely.

I kinda like the first one best. Has a glow in the dark look to it. Like retro toy package art.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Hope you don't mind, I did a quick a photoshop on your paintings. I love the old background with the new painting.

Second one is sweet but I totally love the first one.

It has an old Soviet era Polish movie poster vibe going.

That's exactly what I couldn't put my finger on!
Yeah, the simpler color scheme, the contrast, clean lines, and quite powerful.
I love the new version, but the old one has a style of its own. Polish, apparently!

Mmmmm, yes, I seem to remember eating a Kielbasa while painting it. That explains a lot.

I have to say I like them both, but for varying reasons. It's great, kind of like seeing Basil Golgos interpret the same character multiple times.
