No can do for me. I work for DSNY as a clerk, and unless I go sick, I got no time off.

3 feet of snow still on the ground here in Rhode Island, 5 foot high piles from the plow, and more snow tonight. Pulling in and out of my driveway is like trying to land the Millenium Falcon at Echo Base right now .

Wait until you deal with Horizontal snow in insane winds. I get that on my daily death drives to work on Canada's most closed highway!

I work until 11:45 pm and then have to drive almost an hour home. We keep getting more snow and I hate how dangerous that makes my drive, especially late at night.

We have switched from using the truck and plow to using a loader to remove snow from our driveway; there is just no place left for it all to go. I know there are three foot tall runway markers out on the airstrip, but even after sticking a reflector on top last fall, I have still lost sight of them under the snow.

But wait, it is supposed to be in the 50s next week; we'll to switch the planes from skis to pontoons! Never fear though, ever few years, the biggest snowstorm of the season happens in April, so maybe we'll need skates!

Faucets keep freezing around these parts.

People are too dumb to leave them dripping all night.

not inside, the pipes freeze in the walls. you need to leave the faucet trickling so the water flow prevents freezing.

we have been having major frozen pipe and ice dam issues in the northeast all year so far

                      Exactly,

I live in a middle apartment and the pipes will still freeze if I don't leave the faucet running a little.

Also, another trick is to leave the cupboards open under the sinks

I'm actually on vacation. Good because I don't have to call out of work AGAIN (or work from home which is really only feasible on Mondays), bad because it's already wreaked havoc with with plans this week.

I think building codes must be very strict here. I live in a single-family house and co-own an (awesomely ugly, 1970) apartment building, and I cannot imagine a situation, short of losing power for days, where pipes could freeze,...and we've had negative temps for two weeks now. I had to Google "ice dam"; cannot see that happening either. If I were to move to another area, and had not read your posts, I would have no idea that things like that could even happen - I'd be the dummy not leaving my water on.

10 to 12 inches of snow here in Louisville. Elizabethtown has over 18 inches. This is crazy for March! We're usually getting severe thunderstorms. That's probably next week when the temps shoot way up.
