When I heard the news I felt like someone kicked me in the stomach, he was an icon to sci-fi fans
everywhere, extra sad for me since he was originally from the Boston area, his live long and prosper
saying will always be remembered. I never had the pleasure to meet him but I feel like I lost a close friend.

You will be deeply missed, RIP Mr. Nimoy.

It's amazing how many people have come up to me at work and shared that they are sad that Nimoy has passed. I guess my rep as the go-to comic/sci-fi guy is more out there than I thought. It also shows this goes beyond "geek" culture. Spock and Nimoy are entertainment legends.

His voice is iconic, and unmistakeable.

But he will live forever through his fans, and generations yet to be born.

An odd feeling. It's someone you don't know personally, but have known all your life. Grew up with.
So it does feel as a personal loss.
He was also an interesting man, intelligent, who had many talents. Excellent director.
I'm pretty sure I won't feel this way when Shatner dies, even though he's part of the same story.

Sad news. The end of an era, and of a vital piece of our childhood.

Exactly. He's not an actor. He was a true icon, and the current form of media no longer allows that.

Eastwood, Connery, Shatner, Nimoy...all in their 80's. Once they're gone, we've got Ford, Arnold, Sly.

It's different for women, because they usually leave the scene in their 50's. Sophia Loren was huge even into the 90's because she barely aged. But when she recently passed, it was only a note since she had stop being visible for a decade. Connery has done a similar thing.

Tough week. Random said a lot about his father that hit me hard as it's directly relatable to mine, and a family joke was how much my dad looked like Nimoy at certain times. I met Nimoy once, briefly. It was pre-camera phone by just a year or two, so it's a regret. I always respected how he tried to balance his deep artistic nature with his public persona. He was much more zen-Buddhist than analytical. I think the general population would be surprised that he spent years doing nude photography. Just not something you associate with Spock.

I'm so sad but so grateful for what he gave to me through his performances. Star Trek touched my life (and our culture) in a unique, transformative way. Star Wars can't boast of that lol. When I heard of his death on the news at lunch, I had this sudden flash of Nimoy & Shatner in the fourth film, joking a bit.

The last of my icons is gone, along with Vincent Price & Burgess Meredith. I loved them as a child and their acting opened up so many other artistic, entertaining, and educative experiences for me. I count myself very lucky to have attended a lecture by Nimoy at the University of Akron a few years ago.

Rest peacefully, Leonard--so many loved and admired your craft. You were, and always shall be, our friend.
