My deepest condolences for you Scott, your mother, and your wife. Losing a parent is one of the toughest situations one can experience. I have been there, it is hard.. You will need to be there for your mother, and she is lucky to have you as her son.

We have final arrangements made. We spent the afternoon at the funeral home picking stuff out and coordinating this. We'll have a local service/viewing here Friday evening and then travel to Evansville, IN and have the actual burial there on Monday.

I want to thank those who've taken the time to text me, PM me post here or facebook and to also thank those who did not. I know how you guys feel regardless of any internet contact so no worries. The love and support I feel here is a true testament to the power of the Mego community. There's just something about lovers of this sub-genre of toy that stands out from all other hobbies. I have no idea exactly what that is, but I'd like to write a self-help book about it once I discover it's magical secrets.

What a beautiful post you wrote...it had me teary eyed for a bit, as my father passed from cancer, and mom has dementia. It really hit me.

Your father sounded like an awesome all around great guy, and you gained a ton under his guidance and influence...it made the man you are today. I know it's a moment of great sorrow for you right now, but as you yourself said, a moment of celebration of his life as well...you will forever carry a part of your father with you...and for that, I'm sure you are enternally greatful.

So sorry Scott. My grandmother was THE special person in my life and I can clearly recall the day she died. I don't wish that pain on anyone and my heart is heavy with the thought of what you are going through. I don't say this often cause I feel that it shouldn't just be said without truly meaning it, but if there is ANYTHING you need - give a holler.
