    Your first crush (non-celeb) ???

Was sitting here getting nostalgic and my first real crush came to mind.

Back in the day (grade school days) I was never much of a ladies man.

I was more of the class clown (basically Ralph Malph).

We had a school dance --- I was in like 7th grade.

I didn't care to go but my buddies talked me into it.

At the dance I was the proverbial "wallflower" --- but with a joking not-caring camouflage screen.

Suddenly this gal from 6th grade asked me to dance.

--- back in the day 6th graders were babies compared to us mature 7th graders.

Well, because of peer pressure I obliged.

The song playing was The Bee Gee's How Deep is Your Love.

I fell literally head over heals for this girl but I never told her --- remaining Mr Cool Class Clown Mature Man of the 7th Grade.

I mean come on, a 7th grader robbing the 6th grade cradle .........Unheard of

--------------------epilogue ------ to this day I still wonder what might have been.......

Tell me about YOUR first crush

What a fabulous house of cards marriage it is if the innocent mention of your first crush causes tension.

When I was in 6th grade in NYC, I was in a Baton Club. We were doing a "Stayin' Alive" routine, and needed a boy to be our "John Travolta". My teacher Miss Abrams, was in charge of Baton Club, and was holding auditions in our classroom. In walks Gerard Dure'. He was so cute, and danced like a dream. All the girls (even though we were 6th graders) fell like a ton of bricks. I was a bold little girl and I pursued him and he was my "boyfriend" for about a year. He wasn't so nice to me after that, and I broke up w/ him. About 15 years ago, I was babysitting a kid, and saw him on a CD cover. I thought I must have been imagining it. About 10 years ago, I decided to look him up. We talked a few times, but some things are better left to memory. Oh well. BTW...he's been a dancer, a recording artist and I think more recently a hair dresser w/ his own shop. If you look up the name you'll see what he looks like.

Karen Lucas in 5th grade at Eleanor Roosevelt Elementary School.

I finally got enough nerve to ask her to skate with me at our school's bi-annual Rollerrama outting. Only when I approached her waiting in line for couples skate, she bolted off the rink before I could reach. I still carry the scar.

                Susan B.

Her family moved to our Chicago suburb from South Africa when I was in 2nd grade. This being 1978, I was convinced that her family had been living in a tree house in the jungle and would need our help adjusting to electricity and indoor plumbing. She was 1 grade above me, and in my sister's class. The moment I laid eyes on her, I finally "got" why a boy would like a girl. I was relentless in pursuing her any time my sister had her over to play, but to no avail. I was just the weird, awkward kid.

I kept that crush on her for years, and when I was in 5th grade, we had to take a school-mandated ballroom dancing class. Girls couldn't say "no" if you asked them to dance. I abused that privilege a lot, and to this day I will always associate Journey's "Open Arms" with her and my horrific ballroom dancing skills. In 6th grade, she moved away and we didn't meet up again until my junior year in high school. By that time, I was out of my awkward stage and actually getting a bit of a reputation as an athlete. It didn't help, and I never worked up the courage to ask her out.

Interesting side note: my younger brother married her younger sister and they live in the same town as Susan and her family. She is married to one of the coolest guys I know and I see them every time I visit them in the Boulder area. We have a total blast any time we're together. Sure, it took about 2 decades and a bunch of marriages, but I'm finally over the crush. Woo-hoo!

I was kind of into this girl in 7th grade, total friend zone but I got to dance with her a bunch at graduating prom, nice memories.

She is the only blonde woman in my history, it's a myriad of dark/occasionally red haired women after that one moment in time.

The one I remember most was a tall girl in grade 6 - I can't remember her name. She playfully pushed me at recess and I slipped on black ice. Total doofus. I fell pretty hard chin first into the ice covered cement. I might have even cried - I can't remember - but I do remember that I was really embarrassed.

At the end of recess a teacher held the door for us, kinda doing a head count while we filed passed him into the school. His face switched from routine boredom to total shock when I got near. "You - come with me!" - he grabbed my shoulder and lead me into the bathroom. My entire front was covered in blood gushing from a gash in my chin. I guess the ice or cold had numbed it, because I didn't feel anything until we started to try and stop the bleeding with reams of paper towels. My mom had to pick me up and take me to the hospital for stitches.

Later that week the girl invited me to her birthday party - but I felt like she was just inviting me out of guilt - so I didn't go - which was a pretty dumb move on my part. I still have a scar on my chin.

Funny you should mention that. A similar incident happened to me, when a boy (also named Eric) tried to take something from my pocket and I slipped and hit my chin on a 4x4 crossbeam on the jungle gym. I bit through my lip, and still have a scar.

That Eric is still a friendly acquaintaince, and a very cool guy. But we're just friends.
