I had posted a while back that I was going to tag along to Portland for my wife's business trip; so glad I did. What a beautiful town. Got some great advice from Board members on where to go.

Saw this at the airport. Poor little Duckies. I was pulling for you, but those mean Buckeyes roughed you up good.

Definitely a foodie town. Our first stop was Lardo. Fries + Pork Belly + Peppers = Bliss

Micro Roasters everywhere you look. This town is damn serious when it comes to espresso. That was the first time I've seen it offered in different blends.

The amazing Powell's Book Store. Found my way to the Blue Room and came across an old friend:

Parking seemed to be a free for all.

I've been hearing about Billy Galaxy for years and finally got to go there.

One of the coolest toy stores I've ever been to. Reminded me of Time Traveler Toys in Culver City. I picked up a few items and went to the nearest adult drinking establishment to go celebrate:

Dinky Space 1999 Eagle Transporter, AHI Action Apeman (that now has boots thanks to kresge1
) and Bullmark King Kong key charm.

Neat little guy; movable legs and arms.
Stopped by a few Antique/Collectible stores. Lou almost came home with me.

Someone we met at a restaurant told us where to go see some waterfalls. We got to see Latourell Falls,

Wahkeena Falls

and Multnomah Falls. Multnomah is the tallest waterfall in Oregon and 2nd tallest year round waterfall in the US. Breathtaking.

How can anyone resist gettin' lit at a place called The Sauce Box?

Some of the best meals we had were at Little Bird and Beast. My wife and I watch a lot of cooking competition shows (Top Chef, Master Chef, Hell's Kitchen, etc) and one of the Top Chef Masters contenders (Naomi Pomeroy) is the owner of Beast.

Before leaving this beautiful town we had to try the donuts at Voodoo.

They were good and we ended up seeing a lot of people holding those pink boxes at the airport on our way out; but the best donut in town belonged to Blue Star. We had a Crème Brûlée donut there that had a plastic squeeze vial filled with Cointreau to be injected into the donut.
May have been the best damn donut I've ever eaten.
We had a fabulous time. Can't wait to go back.
