10 vintage items in your shopping cart

My other posts about vintage canned drinks got me to thinking... if you went back in time, to the grocery store, and could bring 10 classic foods or drinks they no longer make back to the present w/ you...what would you bring back?

My list: (in no particular order)
    1) Peach Hi-C
    2) Bird's Eye Cool and Creamy pudding (milk chocolate)
    3) Danny Frozen Yogurt Bars
    4) Jeno's Frozen Pizza Snack tray
    5) Purple Passion soda
    6) Koogle (chocolate)
    7) Banquet Boil-in-bag dinner (chicken ala king)
    8) Bird's Eye Thick and Frosty shake mix (chocolate)
    9) Sir Grapefellow cereal
    10) Jell-O 123 (Peach or strawberry)

What would be on your list?
"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."

Hmmm, can't think of 10 right off the bat but my list would start with ........

Cookie Crisp Cereal (any flavor except chocolate chip)

    Libby Land TV diners

Chicken croquette with white sauce - forgot the company who made them

Swanson Fried Chicken TV dinners --- around these parts there are NO Swanson Fried Chicken diners (not counting boneless crap)

Swanson Chinese, Mexican and fish dinners ---- haven't seen any of them since the 70's

I remember Swanson had a meatloaf dinner with a tomato-based sauce that I loved. I miss those aluminum foil trays they were in too... Before microwave days...

I'd give anything for an old Buried Treasure ice cream bar

This would be at the top of my list, too. Swanson Canada still makes some of the old dinners that we remember. I had the old tomato sauce meatloaf one on vaca last summer. I'm actually thinking about a trip north with some coolers and 20 lbs of dry ice. However, I got enough strange looks at the border last summer when I said I was going mainly for ketchup potato chips (true), so I'll need a more believable story than TV dinners.

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I used to love those Boil in a bag Chicken Ala King dinners over toast!

                        I'd add in:
Willy Wonka Super Skrunch candy bars
                        Fizzies
Pepsi six packs in the big glass returnable bottles
Brownies potato chips ( local brand)

This is tough, because most of the stuff is just junk food I'd get from time to time. Some may not have been discontinued, but they're not available around me.

                          1. Hostess Pudding Pies
                          2. Jello Pudding Pops
                          3. Carnation Breakfast Bars (those chocolate covered bad boys)
                          4. Halfsies Cereal (one of the few "sugary" cereals we were allowed on occasion)
                          5. Marathon Bars
                          6. Libby's Apricot Nectar in a can (my great grandmother used to ALWAYS have this on hand)
                          7. Nabisco TUC Crackers
                          8. Planter's Cheese Balls
                          9. Keebler Soft Batch cookies
                          10. Taco Bell Chilito (ok, not vintage, and not grocery cart available, but that was really the only thing I liked at Taco Bell when I wasn't completely hammered).

Here's a couple more I just thought of:
Frank'n'Stuff wieners, the hot dogs that had scalding hot cheese or chili in the middle.
And the various types of gum that had juice in the middle, little square blocks that squirted when you bit them. I remember soda ones like Dr. Pepper & 7-Up.
Oh, and the ice cream gum, chocolate, vanilla, & banana split they had a circus clown on the pack.

Nehi Cream soda is the first thing that comes to mind. After that it'd be PDQ milk mix. If you don't know what that was,it was sort of like Nesquick.
