We considered kool-aid king in our house in the summer. Although I remember us having some large cans of berry Hi-C in house as well too, just wasn't as popular though.

We were also a kool aid house and like Mikey, Hawaiian punch always gave me heartburn. I have only gotten heartburn from that before I had hit 200 lbs.....now that I'm not heavy anymore, I'm sure it would be my kryptonite.

It was a little strong, wasn't it? Yeah.

It was rare that we had either of them, but when we did, it was a real treat. We seemed to drink more soda than juice drinks.

Kool-Aid for us, too. But HP was a treat every once in a while. Also, for a very brief period....Tang.
              It's all good!

This thread brings up a question I've often wondered about.

Back in the old days lunch counters, ice cream parlors etc used to have what resembled fish tanks with constantly agitating liquid "drinks" in them.

A few times I wanted to try them but my mom said, It's just flavored liquid sugar --- so I guess for my health benefit she got me a soda instead

Were these "drinks" just glorified Cool-Aid --- or something else ?

PS, did the agitating tank have any other purpose than to makes kids want it ?

^ I remember those Mikey. We had them at our local pizza joint. There was punch, and orange. I thiink they were made w/ a concentrate, and that agitator just kept them well mixed. But it tasted like Hawaiian Punch, so I guess you were better off not drinking it.

Ok, funny childhood story...I'm about 4 or 5, and really short for my age. I decided I was gonna be a big girl and get something to drink all by myself w/o asking someone else to get it for me. There was an open can of orange Hi-C in the fridge. I reach up on tiptoe to get the can down from the shelf. Only the can tips over and I spill orange Hi-C all over me and all over the floor. I'm so scared my dad's gonna spank me for not asking for help! I run screaming and crying into my parents' room saying over and over again "I didn't do it on purple!" (purpose) I take my mom into the kitchen to show her the mess, and she starts cracking up! She told me later that I just looked so sorrowful, and kept repeating "I didn't do it on purple!" that it just made her laugh. She cleaned me up as well as the kitchen floor and reminded me that I wasn't big enough to do that alone, and next time I should ask for help. I mostly remember having orange Hi-C up my nose and down my shirt, so I really don't like orange drinks that much anymore.

Kool Aid house. Hi-C was a rare treat. HP was purchased when we went to the beach.

I can't remember if we had Hawaiian Punch or Hi-C in Canada when I was growing up, I do remember drinking a lot of it when I visited California in the summers.

Although I suspect the reason why Mom wouldn't have kept any Hawaiian Punch around the house was because what a horribly influence Punchy was in a household of three boys. Asking someone if they wanted a Hawaiian Punch and then punching them never seemed to get old when I was a kid.

We did drink a great deal of Tang as a kid though.

HI C was maybe once or twice a year.

This is likely a Canadian thing but FBI grape juice was awesome and made you think you were a government agent.

Tang! Oh yeah! (wait, that was Kool-Aid! ) You must be tapped into my brain waves, b/c I was just thinking about grape Tang a week ago, and ordered some from Amazon. (sadly not in those cool jars like the one in the middle). My older brother and I drank a lot of Tang; he liked orange, I preferred grape. I did notice even then that you kinda got that 'backwash" effect in the back of your mouth when you drank it. I wonder if it still does? Anyway, this will definitely be a Saturday morning treat for me!

I never heard of FBI grape juice so I googled it

For some reason it keeps coming up with something about nude pictures

To this day, I have never had Hi-C or Hawaiian Punch. We were strictly a Kool Aid house (or sometimes Freshie, a Canadian Kool Aid knockoff, and it's what my grandmother always called it no matter which brand it actually was). Oh, and always Tang for breakfast.
