    I'm forced to agree

Most peeps remember just the BEST OF's and forget there was a lot of crappy filler to stretch out the hour and a half per show.

To quote Dan Aykroyd from Bad Theatre ---- Now that wasn't so good, was it

I've been watching fairly regularly since the early 80s, but I don't think I could pick a "favorite" era. There are some years when there's a lot of good chemistry between certain players, and when they're featured more, I really like it. I guess I'd probably have to go with the Eddie Murphy era, just because he was so electric in pretty much everything he did. But, I'll always have a great attachment to pretty much any Phil Hartman sketch. To this day, I don't think I've laughed any harder at an actor than his one sketch where he was Charlton Heston narrating the audio version Madonna's book in about 1993 or 1994. It was just one or 2 [unprintable] lines, but they were pure gold.

The Farley/Sandler/Spade/Rock era was basically my late teens early twenties stay up late drinking beer on Saturday night years so I've got really fond memories of that time. I quit watching around the time they replaced Norm Macdonald on weekend update.

Short, crystal, guest. I was the perfect age for that glorious single season, 14.

No that was a season of ringers brought in to boost the ratings.

I find the Belushi era largely over romanticised. I really enjoyed the Hartman/Lovitz/Dunn era.

Nothing beats the Belushi/Akroyd/Chase/ and Murray years.

The original crew (watched in reruns), the Eddie Murphy/Piscipo years, and the Carvey/Hartman/Lovitz years, that morphed into the Mike Myers years.

classic Belushi/Akroyd/Chase era for me, followed by the Phil Hartman/Mike Myers/Farley era.

Late Mike Myers/Early Adam Sandler era. Farley in top form.

I missed this weeks ep. Really wanted to see JK Simmons (though this is his first time hosting, he did star in a skit during Jerry Seinfeld's host stint....They spoofed the finale of Seinfeld...the gang went to Oswald Prison from HBO's "Oz".)
