Question for Brit (and perhaps Canadian) TV viewers about Z-Cars

As an American I've never heard of the show but whenever I IMDB British actors many have at one time played on the show Z-Cars.

I've read on the net it's a crime drama and was on the air for a long time.

Any good ?

Also, is it pronounced Zee Cars --- or Zed Cars ?

It's pronounced Zed Cars. I've only read about it but it's something I'd be interested in seeing.
