    40 yr. old virgin myth/poll

Ok, a lot of people who know I collect megos ask me if I'm like the 40 yr. old virgin, laughing. I usually tell them no and be done with it. Lets see how many myths their are about men our age who collect toys.Which one's do you fit into?

Myth #1 you haven't had sex ever until your later years- BROKEN, I was married at 22 and a bit too worldly while in the Air Force before

Myth #2 You lived in your " man cave" parents basement until you were at least 20- Was gone right after high school.

Myth #3 You have a pocket protector and are super smart, only toys and knowledge are things you're into- I have many varied interests and consider myself smart but not brillant.

Myth #4 You and sports do not go together- I played Football an many levels and considered boxing as a profession. I was above average in both. I also hit 20 home runs my senior year of high school ( not a great fielder though).

Myth #5 You would rather own a rare prototype mego than be intimate with a hot supermodel- Well....... This one is true for me.

#5 might apply to me, too, but I'd have to think about it. The rest aren't at all accurate.

Myth #4 rings true for me. As I failed PE/Gym class 3 times in high school. I think the problem was that nobody ever explained the rules or taught me how to play sports. They just sent you out there and if you don't know what you're supposed to do, what do you do? My dad actually tried to explain football to me and it was like he was trying to teach me latin. But that's ok, I tried to teach him how to play chess and he was even more confused than I was about football. So no, I've never had a desire to watch a bunch of grown men run around playing with a ball.

The other thing that always bothers me about sports is it's acceptable if you like them, and you can paint your face, body or whatever and wear funny hats, costumes etc in support of your favorite teams. But if a fan of toys/comics/sci-fi does that they are automatically ridiculed and called a geek. I don't really see a difference between these two facets of sports fans and pop culture enthusiasts. Why does it always come down to an us vs. them mentality?

#4 doesn't hold true for me. The only sports I stunk at was wrestling and basketball. Had a pretty decent arm on me when I played outfield in baseball. Was a pretty good corner back in football. And could outrun just about anyone in track. Though I stunk at running the mile. Was more of a short distance runner.

Myth #1 you haven't had sex ever until your later years- Not true for me

Myth #2 You lived in your " man cave" parents basement until you were at least 20- Well, I moved out at 27 but I had a room not a basement.

Myth #3 You have a pocket protector and are super smart, only toys and knowledge are things you're into- Yes, this is true for me only I don't have a pocket protector.

Myth #4 You and sports do not go together- Football but that's it.

Myth #5 You would rather own a rare prototype mego than be intimate with a hot supermodel- True, only because I don't like Supermodel types.

So, this is overall close to me but the person it truly fits into is not me.

However if I wasn't married and hadn't done a ton of drugs and hadn't been with tons of girls and smoked, drank, gambled, had kids, made toys my sole source of income etc. I would be just like the 40 year old virgin.

Myth #4 You and sports do not go together-

Depends on who it is and what the Mego piece is
            "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn"

In the Southeast Pacific, lies the sunken city of R'Leyh. There lies C'thulhu waits to return to our world with the other Great Old Ones. A hideous creature of enormous size and alien power, it waits for it's time to return patiently. For it has all the time in the world while it waits for the stars.

              Myth #2
Yes I did move back into my parents whilst I was in University.
I used to sleep on the Pool Table down in the basement with a matress thrown on top.
Also there was no window in the room and the ceiling was a little over 6ft high,
I could put my foot on the ceiling when sleeping on my pool table.

              Myth #4
Hated sports, except pool. The thought of playing football bores me to tears.
I never understood the love you could have for someone whilst they wore a
certain T-Shirt followed by hate for the same person when they wore another T-Shirt.
Plus in Europe football seems to (sometimes) bring out so much racist hatrid, I just don't have the time for it.

              Myth #5
When I was single I think I would have taken the Supermodel on my pool table.
Now I'm married, I'd take the rare Mego.

I have never waxed my chest,
Still I do collect toys and I ride my bike to work everyday.

                Myth #1 - I was 21 or early 20's.

Myth #2 - I lived at home until I was 30, far too old to be living at home. I rented basements as my first 2 apartments tho because they were cheaper than regular floor apts. I have dragged 2/3rds of my collection with me to each place I have lived so far and the 2 landlords I have had so far have been stand-up guys.

Myth #3 - I don't wear a pocket protector but I was an art student for a long time. It becomes common practice that you carry a shoulder bag everywhere. I used to carry pencils and a sketchbook but it also serves when you go to the comic book shop and buy new issues. I had a unique coffin pencil case I used to keep on me but stopped using it because it upset Dad after Mom passed away. I am not super smart but know a lot of trivia that people shake their heads at like that Buck Rogers Space Shuttle was named Ranger 3-man did they laugh at that one at work.

Myth #4 - I don't like sports much and prefer to watch Science Channel, History Channel, MSNBC for news and politics, NGC, A&E and old & cult films and tv shows. If I had tried I suppose I could have been good at Hockey and maybe Volleyball. I just was never really interested in competetive sports. When I hang with my Dad we watch golf, Yankees or Mets and ice skating. Mom used to watch these with him so I sort'a keep him company.

Myth #5 - A supermodel? I dunno. I like a lot of actresses out there. I'd rather date Christina Ricci, Minnie Driver, Elizabeth Banks or Jenine Garafolo than own a rare prototype mego.

Myth #1 you haven't had sex ever until your later years- I was 18 and waited by choice. Plenty of opportunities in High School and even Jr. High that I politely declined.
I started dating my wife at 19 and am proud to say that I have only had sex with two different women....there was really no need to explain to my wife any of my "past" since there wasn't much to talk about.

Myth #2 You lived in your " man cave" parents basement until you were at least 20- I left for college right after High School and although I would come home during the Summer and work jobs to pay for college costs, I never lived at home full-time after High School.

Myth #3 You have a pocket protector and are super smart, only toys and knowledge are things you're into- I do not carry a pocket protector and do know my IQ which I won't discuss. I have a wide range of knowledge. Although my degrees are in Finance and Accounting, I specifically picked electives that were so far away from my major to broaden my knowledge including classes on Medieval literature, Art History, an advanced Astronomy class that discussed the possibilites and conditions that would have to exist based on our current understanding of science for life to exist outside of Earth, Psychology of Sports, Architecture, I was really interested in a variety of subjects.

Myth #4 You and sports do not go together- Played soccer from the time I was in Kindergarten through College. Just rejoined an adult league and have been coaching competitive girls soccer for two years. Also played Football in Jr. High and High School and Volleyball.

Myth #5 You would rather own a rare prototype mego than be intimate with a hot supermodel- True....however, if I were not married....I'd take the supermodel
