Did you ever ride on a Firetruck ?

Back in 1969 in Kindergarten our local Fire Dept gave us all a ride on their new ladder truck.

I must say, it was probably one of the coolest events EVER !!!.

Afterward we went to the local bank and got a shiny new 1970 penny as a remembrance.

It's little crap like this that makes the biggest impression on a 5 year old tike.

Yes I have!! My uncle was volunteer fireman and the fire station historian for our town and I used to go all the time with him to the station and rode on the trucks at parades and events. And back kindergarten my t-ball team won a tournament and we rode around town on the Simcoe Bickel...a 1936 firetruck that was featured on a Canadian stamp! hows that for riding for firetruck!

I once rode in the back of a paddy wagon with a bunch of lovely you girls, does that count?

I used to work in a firehouse. It was my job to wash them. At the time I was also small enough to climb into and work on the engine compartment.

I have ridden in the big engine.

Nope, but I've climbed on one. Many years ago one of the parents at the school where I teach was an Oakland firefighter. The kids got to go to the fire station, climb on the truck, try on the coats and helmets, and slide down the pole. I just climbed on the fire engine.

No, which is weird, because I've been on a lot of photo shoots with firefighters for my job.

I have, but then again when I was a little boy, I was obcessed with Fire Truck and Fire Stations. Shocking, I know. We visited probably 75% that we came across.
