Wal-Mart or Target

When I take a quick trip over the border to the US, I prefer Target over Walmart, but Target's foray into Canada was a colossal clusterf---. The few times I entered a Canadian Target, they just seemed like a Zellers with a new coat of paint slapped on, so-so prices and selection, and a bunch of empty shelves. I feel bad for the 17,000 employees who will be out of jobs, but I'm not surprised that Target Canada was dragged out behind the shed to be shot.

Yeah it was a real misfire that's for sure. I spent a little over two years trying to get a buying appointment with them, they were an ivory tower. Despite the fact that my company has profitable programs with all their competitors, they just ignored my categories. I'm glad now but that sort of attitude explains in part why it fell flat.

My Target has a lunchcounter

Is that standard with Targets ?

The targets around me have always had lunchcounters to them. I would want to go Target just because I could always get some of their bagged popcorn.

Target all the way. Every once in a blue moon, out of necessity, I need to get something at a Walmart. What bugs me is that I seem to be the only person in the entire store who wants to get out of there as fast as possible. Everyone is meandering around, plowing down the middle of the cramped aisles, taking their own sweet time. I want to get in, get out, and get that funky Walmart smell off of me as soon as I can and everybody from the greeter to the customers to the notoriously slow checkout lines are preventing me from doing that.

Yeah, my Walmart is bad enough that I now keep a pretty constant watch on the checkout lines. If I ever see an opening, I just go check out with whatever I've accumulated to that point. Actually, I went there today and found some bags of huge blood oranges. There were 7 open U-scan lanes when I came out of Produce, so that was the end of my trip. Sad.
