My Great-Grandparents had the aluminum tree with the color wheel. It wasn't Christmas until we had the family get-together at their house.

I love to get as crazy funky weird as I can, throwing lights up all over and on the collectibles too.
To me it's exciting to see how non-real world yet still with a holiday magical feel, but of course my environment isn't very traditional anyway. I'd use the excuse that I over-decorate because the family no longer does present giving (no Christmas presents!) or not parties to go to, but that's not true. It's just how I've always been. Lights are catnip.
My favorite tree, which I don't even have photo'd, is a little silver one with rotating colored twinkle lights. But sadly I don't decorate every year, I just don't have time. I won't this year either, so go thing I snapped some pics from before.

My grandma (mom's mother) had a silver tree at her apartment too. If you click on my profile, you'll see a pic of me (age 5) showing off in front of it!"Do you believe, you believe in magic?

Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic

Our tree is a little OTT. Not sure at what point we jumped the shark, but there y'go.

As long as you like it, that is what matters! I am sure many people don't like my cluttered style of tree either, but I love it.

The great thing about Christmas trees is that they can be whatever you want them to be. I like the fancy ones with themes and the more personal fun ones both.
This year We went the fun route with colored lights and my mom's old ornaments other favorites. It would make a designer cringe, but I like it.Comment

When I was a kid we used to have a natural tree that we decorated at home, even though that night was always spent at my Grandma's. She always had a beautiful tree.
Anyway, a couple of years ago I gave up the six foot tall tree for a much smaller fake one. Since it stands over a round table you don't need to bow to pick any presents, haha. Here's a picture of what my living room looks today:
It's funny in the previous posts I could see a tree with some sort of angel on top. We don't use a star, but this angel or cherub, or whatever it is. I found it back in 1981 at some grocery store. There were many of these figures, I could only afford one. Since then I have never seen any of these again. Originally he was holding some sort of songbook. I love it.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL!Comment

One of my favourite tree ornaments is Tinkerbell.

Wow! Are those different versions of the same tree, or are those all up at the same time? And I LOVE your "Man Cave" decorations!

I few years ago I did 6 different trees of different sizes, but since my daughter was born we just do one "everything but the kitchen sink" type tree. I'm slowly amassing enough vintage xmas ornaments and decorations to do a retro xmas room in a few years.Comment
