Sony is releasing the film on Christmas now in "limited theatres". Will be interesting to see how what people think of it.Comment

Starting today, you can stream it online ($5.99 to rent, $14.99 to buy) through YouTube, Google Play, Xbox and Sony's site. This will be an interesting experiment, the first time that a commercial Hollywood film has had a same day and date release release in theatres and online. Such an idea has always been opposed by the major theatre chains, but this is a unique situation so Sony's giving it a shot. It will be interesting to see how online sales go for this, and if it is significant, what that could mean for the Hollywood film distribution model in the future.Comment

Looks to be a second wave of larger movieplex-type theaters opening it on January 1st too.
Sony; first they caved, then they caved again… thus reverse shaft attempt gone awry. So silly.
