    It pays to complain

I hate to make a fuss over anything, I'm just always easy going, always have been, not much gets to me.
Almost 2 years ago we upgraded our cable to a bundle package they had going . We were happy, tons of new stations a DVR great internet and phone for 79 bucks plus tax. Couldn't beat it with a stick. So after the first year they raised it 5 bucks or so, a couple months later another couple bucks, and at the end of summer a couple more because they said it cost more to provide some of the stations.
Yesterday we got a letter, saying as of the first bill in the new year they were raising it again to 162 bucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So today I call and say no thanks they have nickel and dimed and dollar billed me into Direct Tv. And wow what a change they can give me the same rate that we had been paying plus free HBO and Starz for the next year.
So my question is why , just because a phone call can I save close to 50 dollars and get free movie channels ?
How many people wouldn't have questioned it or threatened to change.
So call your cable provider if they raise your bill, it may be worth the phone call!
    Sorry for the long post

My wife renegotiates our plan all the time. They absolutely rely on the fact that most people will just accept or not notice the inscrease, but there's no reason, as a consumer, that you have to just take it.

I dropped cable a month ago and haven't noticed the difference. I watch very little and now just limit myself to what is streaming or over-the-air.

We have Time Warner here in town, and believe me they are out to get every dine they can until you notice it on your bill. They will be subtle in the changes and fees and whatever they add on each month. They will continue to do so until a call is made to them. Exactly what Ben did and his results are what will happen every time. Every three or four months my wife calls them to see what bundles we can get in on and what specials are available. They always come up with something new for us, last month we got Epix for free. It always pays to call the cable company. The representatives have way more authorization than they probably should and will get you some good deals and save you money.
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

I'm about to do the same thing. My bill is huge, but half is work related. I'm in a top-tier with TWC and have been since they first started, so I get access to a lot of beta stuff, but the cost has finally caught up with me.

Cable-Free for several years now. You can get surprising hi def results with an antenna. If there's a show I really want to watch, like Walking Dead, we purchase it. I really think that'll be the wave of the future. I always wished I could custom vpcreate my assortment of channels ala carte.

Good on you for sticking up for yourself, Ben!

                I have Blue Ridge Communications

Every year I call them to find out what their deals are.

This year I was able to get all the premium channels and highest speed internet for $5.00 less than what I was paying for their regular cable last year.

You would not believe the deals out there if you seek them out.

The squeaky wheel does get the grease in this case.

I wish our cable bill was only $162...our bill is $280, lol. Has the works though, four HD DVRs, all the available premium channels, sports package, landline phone, and Internet.

                    "It pays to complain..."

Thus far, all my attempts at eradicating honey mustard from the face of the earth have failed.

Honey is delicious. Mustard is delicious. Mixed together they are an abomination. I will never stop trying.

I remember visiting my aunt back in the day when her cable access was just a means to get the over the air waves past the mountains as she got nothing off an antenna. How far it has come. It is amazing how they can add all of those little fees together and how there seems to be no rhyme or reason. We chose not to have cable at our house, every once in awhile we miss something, but are happy.
                      It's all good!

WOW! That is obscene! That's like a car payment. Only you don't end up with anything after you finish paying.

My bundle plan went up $30 on Dec 1, I tweeted my dissatisfaction to the company yesterday. Did the same thing last year when there was a similar increase. They tweet back that someone will call me within a couple days to address my concerns, at which point I'll get a better deal.
