    LCD Projectors?

I figure this forum will have plenty of people with good advice. I am looking into buying a projector that I can use in my classroom (my school has several old projectors which work to project documents off my computer but do not generate enough light to give very good images at all when projecting video; it has been made clear that no new ones--even new bulbs--are being purchased at my school in the near future). I have been doing some research and wonder what is best recommended by any forum members who have purchased in the past. With lights out, my class gets somewhat dark--the windows are tinted to keep light out, but I do not have blinds or blackout shades in the class, so I know it has to be sufficiently bright. Are there brands and models which you especially recommend?

Epson is always a safe bet.

Measure the size of the wall and the distance throw, meaning where the projector is going to be set up in distance to the screen. You also need to know if this is going to be mounted or portable.

I would think you won't need more than a 720p, but you could get a deal for an older 1080 this time of year, for to the same price. Manufacture refurb are also another good outlet.

Post some info and I'll see what's floating around.

Width of the screen in my class is 70", and the projector would be 12-13' from the screen (could be farther back). It would be portable.

Buy the Optoma X303 XGA 3000 Lumen Full 3D DLP Easy to Use Performance Projector with HDMI at buydig.com, and receive fast, free shipping and a flexible return policy.

If you have 2x the budget, you move into higher end BenQ, Optoma and Epson Powerlite.

Read the breakdowns on Amazon, then compare against the links above. This is the time of year to buy one.

I've got one in my classroom but I don't know what brand it is. It works great though. I can channel my iPad through the wifi and use it like a telestrator and the kids love it. From what I understand the bulbs are so expensive to replace that the school is not replacing them. In some cases where this has happened they just bought a flat screen tv and mounted it to the wall. Saves money in the long run and is brighter. The Fire Marshall is really restrictive on how much we can cover our windows so a tv just makes sense. Most newer computers have a hdmi monitor so the wiring hookup is about the same either way. It's a good setup and I encourage you to find a way to make it work for you but it will help you get unchained from the board.
