    Favorite musical discovery of 2014

This is Monte Pittman and he is Madonna's guitarist. Let that sink in. Madonna. He's also a total and complete badass. The intro here is long but the payoff is huge. It's hard to describe this album as it's so varied in styles and influences. Kinda mixing old school Sabbath, with modern rock, Prong, Primus. I dunno it's just so cool to my ears and a refreshing discovery.

I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

He sounds good but he needs a catchie tune.

This song sounds like a background wrestler entrance song

My musical discovery of 2014 was that J-Lo video about big bums. It changed my life.

after watching the Rough Trade record documentary I would have to say most of those bands are new to me (besides the Smiths who I was a big fan of)

Elbow, with great sound and wicked beats, they are the best thing from British rock in quite some time !

In what universe is the bass player's hair not disgusting? I dig the sound, but the video makes me wanna hurl.

Not really a "New" discovery but more of a "why the hell didn't I listen to this..." I've been buying A LOT of vinyl in the last year or so. So much so that I have spent a lot of time on another site. A site that has helped me find THE BEST versions of albums/vinyl. It took me 30 years to appreciate how F'n great Yes' 90125 LP is. Found a 1st pressing a while back and have to say I feel like a complete moron for not listening to this album back in the day. 30 YEARS!!!! It's a great record. The LP copy you want to find has MASTERDISK stamped in the runout groove on both sides and the letter RL etched next to the stamped MASTERDISK. RL stands for Robert Ludwig or Bob Ludwig. The guy is a mastering genius when it comes to mastering LP's or CD's. You hear stuff in his masters that you don't hear in other masterings that weren't done by him of the same record. Also, on the same note I realised how good the Fleetwood Mac LP 'Fleetwood Mac' is this year. A better album than the follow up 'Rumours'. As for new music. There are a few bands that caught my ear in the past few years. Unfortunately I can't get my favorite radio station on my stereo at work anymore. They put in a new lighting system and it has completely F'd up my reception. Someone mentioned Elbow. My statioon, WFUV here in NY, has been playing them for a few years. Great UK band. 'Lippy Kids' was played a lot on the station. Very interesting vocals.
"When not too many people can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
                    The beauty that surrounds them
                    Isn't it a pity".

                    - "Isn't It A Pity"
                    By George Harrison

Two of my favorite albums hands down. Trevor Rabin deserves alotta credit for 90125. The proggier Yes is obviously the "real" Yes, but I'm not into that stuff really.
"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris Mannix

Lewis, L'amour from Light in the Attic Records.
It was Mojo Magazine's #1 reissue of 2014 and it's brilliant.

If you guys haven't watched the documentary about the Muscle Shoals sound you're truly missing out. It's called Muscle Shoals (the incredible story of a small town with a big sound) and you guys need to see it soon if not sooner. It details Rick Hall and his studio Fame in Muscle Shoals Alabama. Artists from Percy Sledge, Wilson Pickett, U2, Rolling Stones, everybody came to little ole Muscle Shoals to record. It's truly awesome. And on a personal note my mother went to Sheffield High School with some of those guys in the studio band.
