I went to high school with Zakk Wylde and a couple of future porn stars, and am still friends with a lot of folks from those days (thanks, Facebook!), but I HATED high school. With a passion. To the point that my hatred all but became a physical, Lovecraftian manifestation. While I would NEVER, EVER condone opening fire/blowing up/ unleashing an anthrax/ebola/cooties hybrid strain/nuking from orbit my alma mater, I had plenty of reasons to want such events to happen.
Instead, I used my hatred to motivate myself to power through, graduate, get the hell AWAY from that place.
So, so glad college came along and I came into my own. As for my hatred, it eventually moved on, got married, had a few kids and now sells Amway in Reno.

LOVED high school. Spend two weeks at Hollywood High and sat next to Ione Skye in Algebra. Didn't know who she was but she was hot and we chatted when she was there. Then off to Fairfax High and got to hang out after school on Melrose Ave before it became a tourist trap. I was part of the alternative/punk/gothy AP clique.
Downside was hearing a kid get shot to death in the hallway and having the one girl I had a mad crush on move to Brazil and miss out on Prom. We are now good friends and hang out once a year.
Upside, met Pat Morita during filming at the school and run into some of my music idols along the "Ave".

Back in the day for me highschool had its ups and downs.
The seniors loved me (as their pet - don't ask me why I entertained them) and most others considered me the typical early 80's-ish nerd.
Was a "burn-out" for a short time.
In the end, glad I got through it without offing myself
