Remembrance Day here in Canada. Lest we forget.

All paid some, some paid all.

Respect and gratitude to all who have served.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place: and in the sky
The larks still bravely singing fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead: Short days ago,
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved: and now we lie
        In Flanders fields!

Take up our quarrel with the foe
To you, from failing hands, we throw
The torch: be yours to hold it high
If ye break faith with us who die,
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
        In Flanders fields

Composed at the battlefront on May 3, 1915
during the second battle of Ypres, Belgium

The only reason we're able to enjoy our leisure activities like the goofs we are is because of the incredible sacrifices made by soldiers in uniform. Thanks to all who serve.

The event where the fans are separated from the true fans.

We have a veterans luncheon and service each year for our residents--I work in long-term care. It's emotional for both them and the staff, but they appreciate it and we appreciate them. For the ones still able to share their stories, it's very poignant and reminds us of the sacrifices they've made.
