    Roses Department Store

I was in Ocean City, Maryland over the weekend and stayed at the Clarion Resort Fontainebleau Hotel. Directly across the street was a Roses department store! We needed a few things so we stopped in. Its connected to an abandoned mall (which looks kinda creepy on the outside, would have loved to browse around inside). The inside of Roses was very nostalgic. Everything was kinda haphazardly displayed. Kinda reminded me of a vintage Woolworths. I didn't have my phone or I would have taken some pics.

Wow. I never knew they were still in business! We use to have one in Louisville back in the 70's. Speaking of Malls and department stores. I found this online museum that really celebrates them in all their different eras. Find your home town and stroll down memory lane. A really neat site.

There was a Roses in nearby Winchester, KY. I first went to it in the late 80s/early 90s, and they still had mid-80s merchandise on the shelves! It looked neglected even then.

Yes i was there recently to! Ocean City Maryland is practically my 2nd home growing up and I still go there all the time.
I saw your post and was wondering if it was the same store
When I was there last year I noticed it was still there and that store has been there as long as I can remember.
That Mall has alot of personal memories for me and it looks EXACTLY like it did in 1980 when we went there after seeing "The Empire Strikes Back" when my parents took me to buy some star wars figures after the movie at long gone toy store.
By the way that movie theatre where I saw that is still there and going strong! (Its near the Delware line)

There is one by Chapel Hill Mall in Cuyahoga Falls, prices are pretty fair on some stuff. Puts me in mind of a Gabriel's store.

We have two Rose's stores within 10 minutes of our house, they are so out dated. I have found some good deals on Dc figures before.

I stopped into a Rose's just south of Elizabethtown, KY a couple of weeks back. Reminded me a bit of Big Lots, but not quite as trashy. Still, it wasn't ANYTHING like the Roses's I remember from my childhood! The one in the mall near MIB and myself used to to have a cool indoor playground outside it with lots of concrete dinosaurs. I spent many hours at both places!
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.
