How did your garden do this year?

We are still picking tomatoes believe it or not. With all the rain we had this summer, everything grew really good, the tomatoes are still holding on. We've been covering them at night to keep the chill off the best we can. It was our first time with garlic, and now have enough to last us a couple years I think.
We froze more stuff this year instead of canning, we had the space in the freezer, and no chance of messing up like when you jar stuff. We'll be having home made salsa till spring time I bet.

I got a little tomato garden from my wife and daughter for Father's day. Grow 9 different types and they were everywhere. I don't even like tomatoes that much.

Mine was an epic failure. I harvested nothing usable...I don't want to talk about it.

I have lots of fruit trees...avocado, lime, orange, two types of Apple, and cacti that gives out tons of yummy prickly pears.

I live in an apt so my garden consists of a few herbs on the kitchen window sill.

Back in the day though when I lived in a house I had a huge garden - like 2 acres.

My neighbor used to let me use his D3 with disc attachment so it was a snap.

Only prob was the local soil (natural black humus) was so rich some plants would rot from the richness - Iceberg lettuce for one.

Our cucumbers and tomatoes did very good this year. The strawberries did okay but could have been better. Our hybrid fruit tree did poorly and only gave us some very small peaches. I never got around to planting the pumpkins again this year. I never have much luck with those in the past when I did plant them.

I tried one year, the pumpkins got about cantaloupe size then the vines died off. Also planted a row of a dozen sweetcorn and about the time small 6" ears had grown they were attacked and totally tore up by either squirrels or a raccoon.

Tomatoes, the squirrels seemed to really like them, lol.

The only thing that survived was some Banana peppers, apparently squirrels don't care for those and I had some "vining" Zucchini that grew up a fishing line I threw up into the tree so I had a Zucchini Tree, with Zucchini hanging 25ft off the ground in this tree and strangely seemed safe from the squirrels that live in the same tree or maybe they just didn't like Zucchini.

I don't know but after that year I kinda gave up on gardening.

Ours did great - tomatoes, a couple varieties of peppers, beans, lettuce, onions, radishes, etc. Only thing that tanked was carrots. The biggest challenge was deer-proofing the area. We live in suburbia surrounded by woods, and the deer walk the streets at night.
