New Ghostbusters movie will be an all female cast

I didn't know where to post this thread, sci-fi, horror, or comics...so here it is...

Will be brought to you by the director of Bridesmaids.

I did like Bridesmaids, but I dunno about this new Ghostbusters though...I don't think you will see boys running to their local Toy R Us and picking up any new Ghostbusters toys, lol.

    What says the masses?

So we can pretty much expect Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy. I dunno...I could see Tina Fey as a female Egon.

I'm sure it will be fine. I would preferred an animated movie continuation of The Real Ghostbusters, though. I have to admit I liked the cartoon better than movies.

Maybe boys today aren't as insecure about girl action figures as boys from the 70s and 80s. It is a little depressing to think some men and boys still think female action figures are icky.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

If Amy Schumer isn't in it, I'm not going.

The original Ghostbusters film was a hit for as much the cast as the period it was made in. Just re-staging the cast and rebooting under this new gimmick will not reinvent history. Another bomb in the making.

Yeah, that's kind of how I feel. Ramis, Akroyd and Murray together were lightning in a bottle...you can't just make that happen again.

I could see ways this would work, but they need to be real careful about who they choose. Someone like Anna Faris would be a bad choice. I'd actually like to see some non comedy actresses given a chance, like Uma Thurman, Charlize Theron, Mila Kunis, or Cameron Diaz, all of whom have done light comedy.
Otherwise it turns into a 90 minute SNL sketch, filled with cameos of Seth Myers & Jimmy Fallon. Might as well make it Muppet Ghostbusters then ( although I would go see that particular film!)
They need to at least make sure to get Annie Potts in it as Janine. I find it funny that she would still be there answering phones after 30 years, now working for 2nd gen ghostbusters the boys retiring or retired.

Depressing if it's adult males, I agree. But little boys hating girl stuff? Hey, that's as normal as apple pie, lol. I'm sure girls feel the same way about most boys stuff too, lol.

I like Wig...but McCarthy is not funny to me, just obnoxious. Fey would rule.

That can be said of most of the stupid remakes of our beloved originals.

Girls generally don't have a lot hang ups about buying male figures and sci-fi and fantasy toys have always been popular with girls.

Heck, Star Wars was originally marketed to both boys and girls.

Like any other modern remake it will be forgotten a day after it's release and hit HBO a few months later and will be replayed to death.

Instead of a remake they should do an 80's style porn homage to Ghostbusters and call it _____busters
