Digital Actors - The Uncanny Valley is bridged.

This is allegedly all digitally created. If so I guess Bob Zemeckis will be casting all his future films with this software:

This could mean big trouble for actors. Who needs to pay big bucks when you can do this?

'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."

Acting requires more than just a face, so actors aren't going anywhere soon. An actor creates a performance...besides just memorizing lines, they bring their personality, their emotions, their improvisational skills...that's why animated film characters never quite come off as genuine. Their every movement and emotion is scripted. There's absolutely zero chance for spontaneity. That's why I absolutely HATE those fake "blooper reels" in animated films. They're not bloopers at all. They're scripted.

maybe this means we can get a new Indiana Jones movie set during WWII. Harry can just do the voice

I find it neat and disturbing all at the same time. IMO it's just another form of art more so than a replacement. I'm CGI'd out already so I don't think I could ever go all in on this. Still, it is very impressive.

If people get good enough at this technology, I believe they can pull it off. It may not happen right away, but I think it will happen.

People have been working on this for years. I remember there was a story about this when they had George Burns (who had passed away) appear in one of the Dear God movies via computer? I am trying to remember but it was that long ago! I'd hoped to be seeing "new" Star Trek episodes with Shatner and crew by now! Looks pretty cool.
