It's absolutely serious. And it doesn't just end at the mortality rate or the ability for it to spread. This is already impacting our financial markets and economy. This very morning a plane was grounded in Spain when a possible case of Ebola was suspected. And the worst part is as the flu and cold season gets going, the hysteria over what they have will soar. That's why you have authorities from all divisions (right up to the president) telling people to keep calm. The short term damage of this disaese is quite destruction to just about every aspect of our lives and economy. The ONLY thing that will turn this around is if they find a way to treat the virus effectively. A 70% kill rate for a virus that scientists can't seem to understand is troubling at the very least.

Why would they not restrict movements of the teams who treated these patients? At the very least monitor them all carefully.
No, this is a trained health care worker who decides it's ok to fly right after being potentially exposed?
But having worked for a few years in a hospital surgery area, I can assure you it is the doctors and nurses themselves who are the worst at infection control. I have seen doctors leave surgery and without taking off scrubs & track blood through the corridors right to the cafeteria! I've seen doctors leave one surgery and enter another. The mess left behind by some of these guys is unbelievable, and minimum wage workers are expected to clean it all up and within a ten minute turnaround time as well, the next case is waiting$$$$$! I could go on awhile telling stories of stuff I've seen, it's crazy!
As for gowns, disinfectants, etc, the bottom line is cost, what can we get that saves money? Wear two gloves instead of heavier material. Tape the sleeves instead of buying hazmat suits.
The lawsuits from this Duncan should be coming anytime soon I bet. Not that any of this is on him, right?Comment
