Burger Chef

Here is the place my dad took me every THursday night while my mom played bridge with the girls(another 70's activity?). I had all the floppy records, the hand puppets, movie tie-ins (King Kong glasses andd Star Wars posters) and, from what I remember the food was pretty awesome too. YOu think there's been a slight bit of inflation in the burger biz?

I loved the meal trays at Burger Chef (and Jeff!), & the "burger bar" was so exciting as a kid.

But my favorite '70s things? Batman66 & Star trek re-runs, SMDM, Saturday cartoons in the a.m. & the local creature-features after (Super-Host!!!), and Arthur Treachers. Ahhh, the memories.

man, there were so many great things in the 70's though. the music, classic TV shows, great era of action figures, STAR WARS, Star Trek the motion picture. I could go on an on

Other than the incomparable toys from those days, you got things like KISS, Bee Gees, BTO, tractor pulling, baja races, REAL Country Music by the likes of George Jones, Merle Haggard and Johnny Paycheck, the sports, TV series like The Rockford Files, Six Million Dollar Man, the Incredible Hulk, and the Dukes of Hazzard, beauties like Farrah Fawcett, and Cathy Bach, the movies, Al Pacino, Nicholson, Star Wars, Saturday Night Fever, man those days were nothing short of amazing!!!

The 70s were all about Kiss, Farrah, Happy Days, the Six Million Dollar Man, Marvel Comics and Megos for me...

My childhood......best times of our lives, but we fail to see it until it's gone.....honestly my favorite thing was being around my whole family, some who have passed, some who have just left....I'll never forget those days.

I tell my six year old about them all the time.

Also remember going into Zares, Caldor, and KMart and seeing all those megos...not to mention the dime stores and seeing AHI Monsters for 3.00 hanging there....but who had 3.00 in 1976 or 1977?

Oh man, I think my head is gonna explode! You can't make me choose! But among my all time faves were David Cassidy, Sid & Marty Krofft (and other Saturday morning magic), Dynamite magazine, battery operated dolls, Evel Knievel/Derry Daring, my records, are old apartment, Ben Cooper costumes, skateboards w/ cool graphics (on top!), cement and metal play structures at the playground, Purple Passion Soda, my Toot-a-Loop radio, the big block party on my street every year, and Festival at my dad's job. Friday TV, Saturday night TV....

Man I could go on FOREVER!! Suffice it to say the 70s were THE BEST!!

Going to Kmart for a hamburger and possibly a toy when I was a kid. To me that was the best that could happen. I remember seeing pocket heroes hanging there and thinking how awesome they were. Man, really struggling with missing my folks lately.

Department stores being next to grocery stores. You could walk from one to the other. And you didn't mind going to the grocery store because you knew you'd go to the next door to the department store. Example,I remember Ames being next to Grand Union.
