Post office rant of all time...

I am so unbelievably mad right now I think I'm gonna explode

I just got off the phone with my local post office, and it's a damn good thing that I'm not there.

I mailed a $1500 insured package on August 25th, which never arrived at it's destination. Tracking showed they delivered it to the wrong city/zip code despite my original address label, the receipt, and insurance receipt all having the correct city/zip code AND they failed to get a signature!!

I had a case worker looking into it who eventually conceded that it was lost and the P.O. was at fault, so I just filed my claim today. I had every bit of documentation, invoices, receipts, you name it, and when I get to the very end of the process and hit submit, I see a message in bold red...NOTE: The maximum reimbursable amount is $1000.

    WHAT THE HELL?!!!

I called the P.O. immediately and demanded to know how they can sell you $1500 all the way up to $5000 insurance if the maximum they'll pay out is $1000!! That is total BS and should be freaking illegal! Worst of all, the woman I was talking to on the phone had no idea what P.O. policy was, so I asked to speak to the postmaster, and she WAS the freaking postmaster!!!

That's it. I am DONE with the post office. They can get bent.

A couple of months ago, Mr. Postman wants to deliver a registered package from China to my doorstep.
I'm not home, he leaves a message.
When I go to the post office, they are unable to find it.
Every other day, I call to ask for progress, but they are "looking for it".
After 11 days, I see on their website my package has been found, and immediately returned to sender.
Why? Because I "failed to collect it".
I file a complaint, they still insist I "didn't come get it".
I point out the whole paper trail of me trying to get the damn thing, and the fact that I had 14 days to collect it, and they sent it back after 11 days!
They agree that a mistake was made, and will pay back shipping to me.
I tell them it had "free shipping".
They say "ok, then you get nothing".
After six weeks, the chinese guy gets the package (thankfully), and is willing to send it back, provided I now pay for shipping.
The post office says this is no longer their concern and ignore me.
When my package is delivered again....I'm not home....

I can feel my blood pressure going up just reading your posts! That sucks !!! I can just imagine the frustration for both you two!

The worst that has happened to me lately doesn't even begin to come close to the sludge you two have been through.

I filled out the online form to have my mail held while out of town for a week- came home to a porch full of boxes and a mailbox stuffed full of mail- clearly delivered all week. I had one package that had to be signed for that was the post office. when I mentioned that it appeared that my mail was not held while I was gone the postal worker said: yeah, that online system is really messed up- if you need your mail held, you should come in here and fill out form in person.

is it really any wonder the PO is going bankrupt? I feel for you all, I really do. unfortunately this is what the system has come too. it's becoming common place everywhere, not just the PO. plain old sloppiness

The closest post office near my home, is at the end of my street.
            Sounds great, but....
When I'm not home, my package goes back to the main sorting facility (in the nearest city, 10 miles away). The next day, it gets shipped to the local post office...at the end of my street.

Not at all...look at this idiocy. I copied and pasted this tracking page right from the USPS site. Package goes from Kansas to Missouri, back to Kansas, back to Missouri, then to New York, then to Cleveland, and FINALLY to me. Thirteen days for a supposedly two day priority mail package.

It's a Magical Mystery Tour of clustery proportions.

Seems like the Batman Cowl I just ordered from Mattycollector is taking a similar journey.

enywad72, have you considered they are doing this to you on purpose?

I just had a package sit for a week in Des Moines. It was sorted at the KC station. I am thinking they may need to check on the employees at that sorting bin; I think one of them may need some medical attention.

A friend of mine had a package stuck (and/or lost) in customs for three months.
When he had finally given up hope, at the end of the three months they sent him an angry letter that they were fed up with this package clogging their work space, and that they insisted he come pick it up immediately.

                          1. call your congress person....it's an election year...you may be surprised with the result. Whether you like him/her or not is irrelevant as you want your $$$$

                          2. call your local TV channel and explain the situation....they just may air your story and action will happen fast then
