That is unfortunate. I like the interview at the link (that would be close to the days I did my homework while watching Letterman). He seemed like he would be a great guy to meet.Comment

He was a really intelligent and soft-spoken person in real life, nothing like the roles he played..

Sad indeed; saw him about a month ago… he didn't look so well then, but was friendly and warm as his reputation was merited.Comment

Aw, man. Got to meet him when I was about 12 or 13. I had had the tip of my pinky finger nearly amputated in a field hockey accident, so I was at an orthopedist's office to get a pin inserted, and some stitches. They told us Richard Kiel would be coming in, and that I would probably be able to meet him. I don't think I knew before that time that he lived close by, but I definitely knew who he was. Needless to say, he was ginormous, and to say that my hand disappeared when he shook it is an understatement. He was kind, but in obvious pain at the time from surgery of some sort.Comment

Don't forget, he also played the Hulk in the pilot film, before being replaced by Ferrigno. He's still actually in one scene of the episode.
Another role I liked him in was in 'Pale Rider". Hired muscle who has a change of heart after Clint gives him a whoopin' with a "nice piece of hickory".
Always a pleasure to see on screen. RIP.

I got to see him at a couple of toy shows. RIP Richard."Do you believe, you believe in magic?

Sad news. I met him several years ago at a Steel City Con in Pittsburgh. He was a great guy that appreciated his fans and enjoyed speaking with them and posing for photos. He was having a good time posing for gag photos with fans. Unlike some celebrities at such events Mr. Kiel wasn't just collecting a paycheck but wanted to be there and was having as good a time as the attendees. R.I.P. Mr. Kiel.
PS He also played a Frankenstein like Monster on an episode of "The Monkees"Comment

Yes, but his voice was dubbed
When I was a kid I thought him and Jack O'Halloran (Non from the Superman films) were the same guy.
The last thing I saw him in was Happy Gilmore. He didn't look healthy, but was still enjoyable to watch.
