Guy question for guys that are 50-ish

For the last few months I've been having hot flashes at night.

For peeps that don't know what hot flashes are, you basically wake up in a pool of your own sweat -- it's like you just ran 10 miles.

I know it's weird (always thinking it's a woman thing)

Anyway, it used to happen once every week - then twice etc.

It's now to the point it's almost every night.

I talked to my doc and she acted like it was nothing giving advice to turn the air conditioner higher.

I already keep it like a frozen wasteland in here

Anybody else ever go through this ?

Most peeps I talk to (including my doc) act like i'm nuts

I run hotter than my wife, so my own night sweats are easily expained by our feather duvet and the higher-than-necessary (for me) thermostat. When I kick off the duvet and only sleep under the sheet, it's not a problem... unless the doubled-up duvet ends up on my wife. Same if I fall asleep on the sofa downstairs, where it runs a few degrees cooler. The upstairs bedroom gets warm at night, but I realized a couple weeks ago that I forgot to switch our ceiling fan in reverse ("summer" direction), which has significantly helped the airflow problem.

You say you are running an air conditioner, so turning down the thermostat is not likely the culprit. Perhaps or a lighter blanket and/or thinner pajamas? If you are on any meds, you may want to look up possible side effects, as this is a high possibility. Alternately, gets a second medical opinion; you might want to try a MALE doctor who is of a similar age.

... All that advice is assuming you are NOT a smoker, and do not regularly drink alcohol or caffeine in the evening. If any of those are applicable, then you have a more obvious factor that should be considered.

Sounds more like "night sweats" than "hot flashes". There is an herb that could help, legal in some states.

I agree. Turn on a fan or the A/C...sounds like you're just running hot at night. Plus, she's a doctor and junk and probably knows what she's taking about. :-)

Mike, I know you have had some heart issues in the past, I would wonder if that might have something to do with it. I am no doctor but you should maybe ask your cardiologist about it.
