Could be mean-spirited...but still somehow be likable.

Even though it was minor surgery on paper...it's never minor surgery when you are in your 80s.

          RIP.

I'll be the one who dares to go where no man's gone before.....

I still remember watching clips of her on the Ed Sullivan and thinking she was kinda hot.

              There, I said it

That's so sad!! And no more Fashion Police? The world will never be the same.

Her jokes may have been harsh and depreciating, but I've heard reports from sooo many actors and fellow comedians that say in real life she was the kindest and most gracious person, hugely supportive of their own talents and had nothing but great advice for them to succeed. She was also quietly largely involved in some charities, if I'm not mistaken.
I know there's alot of people that personally knew her that are probably really sad right now.

Totally a bummer. It would have been great if she was around for another 10-20 years. 80 feels like too soon!

My mom told me about this when I got home from shopping.

I had the bad feeling that she wouldn't make it, but I didn't really say so out loud.

I really, REALLY hate being RIGHT about this.

I always thought that she was funny; caustic, witty, pushy, and always hit the nail on the head.

Both she and Robin Williams are in the afterlife now, making people laugh.

R.I.P. Joan, you will be missed.

Absolutely stunned. Guess I was being naive when I thought she was going to pull throgh. She was a very gutsy lady, that's for sure.

sad news. I am not clear on what surgery she was having. was it another plastic surgery thing?
I always liked her until she started the whole fashion police thing with her daughter and then I just found her annoying.
but for all the laughs in the past, including Spaceballs, thank you and RIP!

She went to an ENT for a throat procedure. They had video of her from an appearance the evening before the procedure and her voice sounded "horse."

We are really losing some great ones this year! This is really sad. My first memory of her? Letterman on The Electric Company. RIP Joan.

I was never a fan of hers or her comedy. But RIP and best wishes to her family.

Kelly Osbourne must be taking it hard. She said Joan would talk to her as a mother when she couldn't talk to Sharon.
