Preview: Homemade Coloring Book for my Brother's x-mas gift

This Christmas I am working on giving my two brothers a homemade coloring book, made just like the ones we had as kids. The inside will serve as a tribute of all the neat coloring books we owned as kids: Star Trek, Superheroes, Apes, SMDM, Lone Ranger, etc. May even throw in some funny activities with inside jokes.

Here is the cover I mocked up today. It's based off an old Whitman cover.

The newsprint paper 9 x 12 should arrive tomorrow and then it's go time.

Just an example of the fun stuff I have planned for the inside.

    The classics:

And of course those inside covers with the fine print. LOL:

If anyone has resources to some high-res coloring pages from old 70's coloring books, please feel free to post them (or the links) here.

I'll continue to post progress pics as a go, if there seems to be any interest here.

That's really cool. How did you do the one of you and your brothers? Did you decide on how to get them printed yet?

            That's a great idea! Very creative/clever.

In the classic toy section, Palitoy does a tribute to vintage coloring books. You may check there or with him.

I've got a pad of newsprint paper and tested a page. It very much has the same feel as the old coloring books from yesteryear. I have 40 pages ready to print and then going to have this professionally bound at my local copy shop.

Here's a few other page excerpts I'm using.

this is really a great idea. I was following the few threads you had about this and good to see it is finally coming to fruition
