Anyone ever make a homemade Coloring Book?

I'd like to make a coloring book for my 2 brothers as a retro Christmas gift. I'm not looking to print off some coloring pages on regular paper and stapling them together. What I really want is to find a site that allows you to upload the pages you want and have it professionally bound with those thin old fashioned coloring book paper on the inside.

I'd like to customize the cover in photoshop as well. Anyone know whether there is such a site?

    Thanks

Usually old comics and colouring books were printed with newsprint. Off-hand I don't know of any online digital printing service that uses newsprint.

Usually colouring books were just bound with staples, no? Your local copy shop should be able to do that for you I'd think. For printing - Maybe you could buy some newsprint sheets at your art supply shop and try printing onto those, or maybe photocopying on them?

Try Press Journal Printing....they produce our auction catalogs which have glossy covers and newsprint interiors, and they take on smaller jobs. Ironically, I just contacted them this week for a quote on my own coloring book...I'm doing one on Bigfoot and other Cryptid Monsters.

The biggest problem you may run into is getting only two copies made. Many printing services have minimum order requirements. I'm looking into 500 copies, whether it actually gets done or not will depend on how much the quote is.
I don't even know how much I can reasonably sell them for to turn a profit.

What's the retail price of a coloring book these days?

Afraid I can't offer any help, but I'd love to know what you end up doing. Sounds like a great idea! I'd love to do coloring books for family and friends filled with in-jokes and other silliness.

Thanks but min. order is 250. I think I'm leaning towards Brazoo's suggestion. Gonna pop around and find me some newsprint paper and start printing some at home. Thanks everyone.

Wow - that's such a perfect idea! I can't wait to order these for me and my nieces! You'll post something here when they're ready, right?
