Double L (Lloyd Lindsay) is a Californian through and through.
Young was born in Hollywood, started his broadcast career in Bakersfield California, his first big gig was in San Francisco in the early 80s. After his East Coast days...he returned to Bakersfield once again (KERO, a small market ABC affiliate)...where he worked for three years, but was let go in 2008...this was his last TV news broadcast..
Today, he works for KKSF (AM)...an Oakland/San Francisco Bay Area radio station.
I could/can only take him in small doses though, lol.sigpicComment

Yeah, he always made a big deal about having a special pointer to point at his maps each day. Viewers would send in all kinds of wacky things for him to use as pointers!!!Comment

I even remember him hosting special coverage, in Evansville, during that blizzard of 1977/1978. It was programming for kids who were snowed in. The were showing cartoons, Batman '66, ADAM-12, Emergency, etc.

Ian and I shared the same city at the exact same time and have many same memories. He was known in my house as Lloyd Lindsay Lung for his booming voice. He actually visited my elementary school a few times. He used a wooden sword I made in 6th grade as a pointer. Always seemed like a cool dude.I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.
If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.Comment

The best weatherperson in Evansville by far, and I know Scott and Ian will agree, was Marcia Yockey. Back in the 70's she was a regional icon! This was before blue screens and technology. She just had a big USA map and a marker. She was funny and was probably half soused everytime she did the weather.Comment

Toward the end of her career, did she only do the 10 o'clock News?

I remember Lloyd when I was young(get it, Lloyd Lindsey Young) in New York. I wish there were more people like him. In some places we have boring weatherman who tell you their name every time and the they remind you also that they are meteorologists every half hour in the mornings, even though their name and the word meteorologist appears on the bottom of the screen. I get so sick of hearing them that I mute the TV when their on. O.K., now I feel better..Comment
