      That's neat !!!

I remember back in the day when I was in like 7th grade we had a class terrarium.

Out in the woods we found a nest on a dead stick.

We put it in the terrarium for decoration

About a month later we came in to school and there was MILLIONS of little baby praying mantis's all over the classroom

Our teach had us collect them all (without hurting them) and set them free.

Back in the day killing a praying mantis in New Jersey got you a pretty hefty fine

Made me appreciate them little buggers to this day

I was at the plant section at Target one day and got a huge one in my hair from a hanging plant. I walked around the store for a while before I knew. My hair was really long at the time.

Don't judge them by their relatives! They aren't icky like roaches...

Nice pic, Mikey! I like Praying Mantises, too. Though, I can't recall seeing one in a long, long time.

I had one for a pet for awhile when I was a kid. Very cool looking but those things bit hard, ouch!

when I was little I used to try saving the praying mantis' from kids at school who'd try killing them on the school walls. I'd put them in my pocket. On more than one occasion my mom would find them in my pockets on laundry day. Here's a picture I took 2 summers ago in front of my house.

I bought a mantis egg sack from Thrashers feed store this year but it never hatched any mantis.

Funny, i saw one this week too. It was on a rack out in the garden center are at WalMart. Do they come out this time of year? That was the first I've seen in a few years. Never seen one in our yard at home.

Cool. I don't think I've ever seen one that close up.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Beautiful critters. I think the big brown ones are the ladies. Little green men, are, well, men.
