Our daughter continued to believe until this past Christmas. She was 10 at the time, and an only child. To be honest, I was really surprised that no jackwagon at school spoiled it for her. In January, my wife and I sat her down and told her the truth about Santa. Why? Well, Catholic school here teaches Family Life in the spring of 5th grade. I figured, she should probably know there's no Santa before she learned everything about how babies are made.

Santa and the idea of Santa is one thing I NEVER want my daughter to ever loose sight of. For that matter I never want to for myself either. He is pure. He is fun. He is generous. He loves toys and seeing children happy... unless they're brats then well, they brought the rocks on themselves. I was around 11 when I finally succumbed to the peer pressure, and quite frankly Christmas' sucked after that. The joy it took from my Dad is one image I will never forget.

I was 19 on the road with my first "up and down the dial" radio gig when I decided that Santa needed to return to all of my friends and families lives. And he did. It's amazing how many miles you can cover in a single night when your an elf in training fueled with the Christmas Spirit. And while some thought I was nuts showing up at their doors when I actually lived 5 or 6 hours away, could only stay for a couple of minutes to drop off gifts (toys, nothing but toys no matter who it was) and then haul *** for the rest of my rounds to then get back to work the next morning.

I can't afford to make the journey like that these days but I still work to pull out some form of Christmas magic to the extended family that's left. But who knows what the future will hold. I'm getting ever closer to looking the part with the bigger belly and the grey and white hairs popping up on the head and in the beard.....

But no matter what I'll never not believe again.

This is gonna sound weird but my kid is 12 years old and not only him, but almost all of his friends on his hockey team still believe in Santa. My wife an I have asked other parents. He has his whole life to deal with adult problems. For now I am gonna let him keep believing.

^Amen. I ain't saying anything. As I said, my son still plays along. I think he knows, but my wife and I still say "well, you better ask Santa for that", and he's yet to balk at it.

I hope my boy still believes at 12 Mike. There is nothing like the magic and joy of Christmas...
