When do kids stop believing in Santa ?

I was surprised today when my friend's wife told their son to ask Santa Claus for it, referring to a game he wanted. Now the boy is at least 10 or maybe 11. They home school him, so that may make a difference, maybe because he's not around other kids, but I thought by then they would know. Sorry if I spoiled it for anyone about Santa by the way
But when does a child stop believing in the jolly old elf?

I think most kids stop believing in Santa around age 5 or 6.

Maybe she said it just as a way of telling him to wait for Christmas. I think most of us kids in my family knew the truth by five or six, except for my cousin Mona, who was an only child. When we let it slip to her that Santa wasn't real, she was maybe ten and cried like someone had died. My dad got pretty irritated we blew it for her, so I thought I'd do her a favor and tell her about the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny and just get it all over at once.

Oh yes. I remember it well. The year I discovered Santa wasn't real. I awoke to hear rustling coming from upstairs, and crept out of bed...so excited that I was finally going to see him for myself.

Instead, I found my father...muttering to himself and fumbling in the dark with a garbage bag full of presents. He cursed at me, told me to get the hell back to bed, and threatened to beat me within an inch of my life if I told my younger sister.

I will always treasure those memories, and the love that filled our house every holiday.

Age varies but it's when they figure out the Tooth Fairy and Easter Bunny are bogus. Then by process of elimination, Santa is the last to go...

Usually the kids at school ruin it for the more innocent ones. Our little girl found out at school. She took it really well, she was eight and I'm glad she hung in there as long as she did. There's little enough innocence to go around these days.

I kind of hate those two for messing up Santa's believability like they do.

My son is 12, and he still plays along, never admitting he knows. My sister and I did the same thing. This is partially due to our 6 year-old daughter.

For me, it was around 8 years old. I remember some kids at school saying there was no Santa Claus. I didn't believe them. Though, I must have mentioned all of this talk to my mom. She eventually told me not too long after that. Unfortunately, she told be within a month of Christmas and then said: I hope this won't ruin your Christmas. (Geez...lol)

I have a 10 year old who may have some suspicions, but he still acts like he strongly believes.

His 8 year old brother told me 3 years ago that he knew there wasn't a Santa Claus.

Each kid is different and really depends on the kids at school.
My two oldest found out and questioned around 9-10
                          My youngest might believe forever?
I did tell the two oldest the minute they stop believing they stop getting a gift from Santa.
                          So they still play along.

I don't know if that last bit was meant as sarcasm or not, but it made me laugh out loud !
