10 most historically innacurate films

I didn't realize that any of those movies were supposed to be factual. It appears that the person who made the list has a problem distinguishing between reality and fantasy. Why aren't any of the movies about Jesus there...because I'm sure that Jesus was actually a blond haired blue-eyed man as he is often portrayed in the movies.Comment

10,000 B.C.
Gladiator
300
The Last Samurai
Apocalypto
Memoirs of a Geisha
Braveheart
Elizabeth: The Golden Age
The Patriot
2001: A Space Odyssey
Ok, I can see the critics point in some areas of any of these films but the fact remains that these are movies meant for entertainment. If the critics or anyone want accuracy from beginning to end then they need to watch the history channel. Someone could also easily research more films and find others where most would agree were even worse than these.
Not to get into a long winded counter argument but 300 for example wasn't based on history as much as it was based on a graphic novel (ie a fancy comic book) by Frank Miller.Capt. Kirk: "Is there anyone on this ship, who even remotely, looks like Satan?"
Mr. Spock: "I am not aware of anyone who fits that description, Captain"
Capt. Kirk: "No, Mr. Spock, I didn't think you would be"Comment

Yeah,.. Well I enjoyed,
The Last Samuri
Gladiator
300
BraveHeart
The Patriot
So whatever,... I guess It doen't bother me about ''historical facts" when watching these movies,.. it's not like I was watching the History Channel. I was just looking for some sorta entertainment,.. & I got it from all these.... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. The 1st Knight in Customs.
always trading for Hot Toys Figures .Comment

10,000 BC is basically a Robert E Howard pastiche; but that's like panning 1 Million Years BC as being inaccurate... No Kidding!
Mmmmm, Racquel....
Gee, I'm glad they didn't mention the Hundreds of World War II films that have anachronistic equipment featured.
Battle of Britain -- Late war Mark IVX's were used.
In Harms Way -- Vietnam era Ford M151's were used.
We could go on and on...90, Joe 90.... Great Shakes : Milk Chocolate -- Shaken, not Stirred.Comment

As stated some of these films made no attempt to be accurate. But one of the reasons I disliked 10,000 BC is because, to me, it seemed like they were billing it to be.
I also agree that the 2001 inclusion here is tongue in cheek.
As far as whether comments on moore's films are political or not I can't say because I do believe that commentary on political commentary is political.Comment

I watch movies to be entertained. Accurate or not.
When it comes to accuracy, I like an objective and balanced source of information like FOX news or the Onion."Steel-like jaws clacked away, each bite slashing flesh from my body - I used my knife and my hands, and when they were gone, my bloody stumps - and yet the turtles came."Comment

I totally agree with this.

How can "King Arthur" not make this list? For goodness sakes they had a half dozen literary conventions leading 6th Century Picts into battle rolling out man portable versions of 13th century French Trebuchets. I get anachronistic but can you land somewhere closer than plus or minus a millenium? "Lancelot" - yeah, that sounds like a Sarmation name.An old Irish Blessing - "May those who love us, love us; and if they do not love us, may God turn their hearts; and if He does not turn their hearts, may He turn their ankles, that we may know them by their limping"Comment

What about the 57 film version of the gunfight at the OK corral...that thing was all over the place, and as inaccurate as they come. Probably a boatload of westerns that could make this list!
A lot of critics are on 10000 BC's case about the setting with the Pyramids, etc., yet there are several soild theories about the Pyramids being older than originally thought....part of an earlier culture, and Egypt just kind of adopted them. I believe Graham Hancock even wrote a book and made a documentary or two on this."Crayons taste like purple!"Comment
