I'm totally curious if the use of the term "skid" is an Ontario thing, never heard it anywhere else.

Wow! That didn't happen at my school at all. The only reference I recall was when one of the teachers was coming down on one of my friends for being late to class. Hank Jr. songs had much more of an effect on life at my school.
