I saw that in the theatre opening night too - I really loved it - but I've seen movies I've turned around on like that for sure.

Yeah, Thompson was my idol in high school but I think I just found the whole theatre experience unpleasant. It just needed to soak in a little, I guess.

I went to see "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" on opening night. At the beginning there was a crowd but by the end, just me and my girlfriend. I've never seen so many people walk out, we both didn't enjoy it much at the time either.

I own it on DVD now and we watch it regularly. It's weird how that works sometimes.

Gilliam used to be one of my favorite filmmakers, and I've seen every one of his movies since "The Fisher King" in the theatre. I hated his last 3 movies though, and now "Zero Theorem" is playing 4 blocks away from me and I just can't bring myself to go. Very sad.

The new Conan movie,it was a total flop,dont think it will ever be a cult classic but time will tell. How you can take some great sorce material and turn out that crap is beyound me.

I thought it was okay and saw it twice in the theater, but I think a lot of the failure has to do with a couple things: 1) people don't know the character, they know Arnold (and Mamoa isn't Arnold), and 2) the story was kind of a generic sword and sorcery job. They should have adapted one of Howard's original stories, like Red Nails or Beyond the Black River.

Since the Howard stories are now public domain, you can make Conan movies based on those stories as long as you don't have Conan in the title. And now a new film's on the way: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3153498/

Free Enterprise... it opened on either a Thanksgiving or Easter long weekend, and the holiday afternoon screening had a sparse audience of lone overweight middle aged men.

Hudson Hawk is an absolute fav of mine but I found that on DVD.

In the theatre/cinema I have the unfortunate distinction of seeing every Kevin Smith movie (with the exception of the original Clerks). All of which "bombed" to my knowledge.

Recently I enjoyed John Carter and The Lone Ranger which were flops but I think they were the victim of horrible and rather expensive missteps in marketing.

It's funny - a local reviewer (one I'm not nuts about) gave this movie a 1 out of 5 when he first saw it at the Toronto Film Festival - but then he watched it again when it got it's theatrical release a few months later and retracted his original review giving it 5 out of 5. I wonder if that was a lot of people's reaction to it?

Personally, I really liked it when I first saw it in the theatre, but I didn't LOVE it. Years later the cult grew and I watched it again - and I still really liked it. It's really great - there's a lot of crazy Coen Bros. things happening - but I can't get as excited about it as some.

I thought the John Carter film was pretty good just mishandled by Disney's pr dept. It was pretty faithful to the source material & the effects were good.
