    The Ice Pirates
    Spaceballs
    The Dark Crystal
    Krull
    The Dragonslayer
    Clash of the Titans
Buck Rogers in the 25th century

I think The Fox and the Hound wasnt a hit either.

All movies I liked in the theaters and have grown to love as the years go by.

I saw Kids in the Hall: Brain Candy and David Cronenberg's Crash in the theatre too, they didn't exactly light up the box office either. And Crash had the most walkouts I ever experienced while watching a film, maybe almost half the audience. It was awesome!
takes me back! My first year in Toronto after graduating University (and still lived with my University roommate). My roommate worked on Brain Candy, so we all went out and saw it en masse. MST3K, This Island Earth right? that was a big deal for us because we had spend so much time trading tapes in University.

Gilliam used to be one of my favorite filmmakers, and I've seen every one of his movies since "The Fisher King" in the theatre. I hated his last 3 movies though, and now "Zero Theorem" is playing 4 blocks away from me and I just can't bring myself to go. Very sad.
one of my favourite films, Brazil by Gilliam was a huge box office disaster, as was Baron Munchausen, which I saw in one of the tiny theatres at the Eaton Centre Cineplex.

Fisher King was a hit, and Gilliam thanked everyone for making his selling out to Hollywood so easy. !2 Monkeys was a hit as well IIRC.

You were close. The bottom of the ship looks like a low hanging scrotum. Nevertheless, I need to see this again. Was it ever released on DVD/Bluray?

I don't know if it qualifies as a bomb....but Blade Runner didn't do big numbers at the box office.

Also, the FIRST Matrix didn't do big box office numbers either...but it REALLY took off on DVD!!

The Rocketeer- Disney did not market that movie well, underperformed in the movie theaters and yet mostly everyone who I speak to, absolutely loves it. It has a bigger following now than it did when it was released. I hope to one day see a new Rocketeer made.

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow- saw people walk out on it, but I thought it was just fantastic

Anaconda starring Jennifer Lopez and Ice Cube, horrible to say the least. Lopez had just finished making
the Selena movie which she was great in, then went onto make this dibocal, like night and day, just wish
the snake ate Cube, but it probably would have upchucked him up.

Also, I saw David Lynch's "Dune" when it was new. At that time, it was the most expensive film ever made and people couldn't even understand it.

It wasn't until I read the book that I got it and started to appreciate that movie, it also has a cult following.

I also like the extended TV version or Alan Smythe release.

Back in the 70's my local theatre used to show double features.

I remember seeing a documentary about Lynyrd Skynyrd but can't remember the title.

Tried looking for it on the net but couldn't find it.

It's not the 1996 Freebird movie.

The one i'm talking about played in the 70's.

Think it was a double feature with Smokey and the Bandit

I loved Dune, and still do. I never really had trouble understanding it, even though I didn't read the book till years later. I just thought it was a completely original story and went along for the ride.

                              Nah, just looked it up

The movie I seen was a documentary.

If this helps, trying to remember--- it might have been the second feature of Phantom of the Paradise - as the main movie

The biggest bomb that I can think of was Starcrash. My memory of seeing that movie DO NOT hold up with what the movie actually is. Although I'm not sure it is a cult favorite unless you are MST3K-ing it.

I saw Time Bandits in a first run theater. Now THAT one holds up well. Although it was considered a box office success I don't remember anyone going to see it at the time and I was one of the only kids in my neighborhood who saw it before it hit HBO.

My Dad took me to see a special showing of Blade Runner in late '82/ early '83. It was billed as "The Uncut Version" with 20 minutes of extra footage. When I finally saw it on video I was not able to remember any distinction between the two.
