Yeah, he died two years ago. It was a sad day for those of us not in a coma or living in a cave at the time. They even reminded everyone in February 2013, during the Academy Awards "In Memoriaum" montage.
I am surprised you are having a hard time finding these two-year-old news articles -- simply searching his name on Google turns up a whole bunch. If you are looking in the newspaper for an article, you need to find one that was printed a couple years ago, as it is no longer considered a "hot" news item.
The passing of one of the greatest "down home" actors of all time -- Andy Griffith -- brings to mind that, sadly, many of the actors who lived in the fictional town of Mayberry are no longer with us.
Not many members of Mayberry left. Only two I can think of are Ron Howard and Jim Nabors, unless you count Ken Berry and the guy who played Berry's son.
