Even the article mention this is a 6 year old story.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

^^^ Yep and Trunk is stating the wheels are now rolling to make it happen. I think it's pretty clear the years of KISS being a touring group are over. I've been saying for years now that they would eventually park this act in Vegas and let someone else take over the show while Paul & Gene did meet & greets out front. Well the band is doing a residency in Vegas this Fall, so it's clear they are testing the market for this. It only makes sense they would start looking for replacements when they step down. But I doubt it will be anything other than to do shows in Vegas. In classic KISS fashion, they'll try to make it more than what it is, but in the end, I think that's all the public will stomach.

I think "talent search" is an interesting choice of words.

I've been a KISS fanatic since i was 6. Them, and Alice Cooper, were tremendous influences on me. I've just sort of come to take their nonstop shilling as a kind of comedic since the reunion ended. But it hasnt dampered my ability to enjoy their music one bit. However i was holding out hope that they would respectfully ride out into the sunset when it came time to step down. As long as they keep making new albums and touring , im all for them continuing. I'm not one who subscribes to the theory that ,in doing so, their tarnishing anything. But this.......i dont know. I guess its no different than going to see an Elvis impersonator, so realistically its nothing new nor something that should offend a KISS Army member. I mean there have been some awesome tribute bands over the years. But it does come off as one last "great rock n roll swindle" to quote a song from a famous quasi punk band of the 70s. I just hope that when they do call it quits, it with a TRUE Farewell tour that encompasses all their iterations over the years.

Just what the world needs, ANOTHER KISS tribute band. I love 70's KISS, but these guys have been a joke for years. Gene can suck it.

I look at it like this...why can't they be replaced? KISS was never about the real members of the band, or even the music, so much as the CHARACTERS they portrayed. If you look at it from that perspective, it's no different than a new actor taking over as Batman, or James Bond, etc. As long as the new members can perform as the characters and still be entertaining, KISS can continue to live on for a new generation of fans. I wish them success.

At this point aren't they half a tribute band unto themselves? They already have two dudes masquerading around as Peter and Ace? Maybe Gene and Paul should hire their stunt doubles from KISS Meets The Phantom Of The Park movie? LOL. I love Eddie Trunk and appreciate him standing up to Gene and Paul on their silly nonsense. KISS just needs to retire in the next couple of years and NOT have other people playing the part since that just makes KISS look even worse. At this point it would be as silly and foolish as other people pretending to be The Beatles,The Rolling Stones or Led Zeppelin.

Where's the integrity?!?!? (That probably flew out of the window decades ago with these two guys).

                              reckon I'll chime in...
KISS fan at heart here, so this is my take..
Gene, Paul, Pete and Ace will always be KISS to me. Probably just being sentimental.
It was around 1986 when I discovered the make-up era.
With my imagination, I could always "see" what it would have been like - then I found bootlegs and KISS Exposed came out on VHS.
I'll never forget seeing KISS Exposed (even if it was cheesy-geared-towards-teenage-boys).
Seeing the concert clips...I knew I had been right.

So, MTV Unplugged came to be and I knew the day would come when a reunion was gonna happen...it was shear economics. And it happened.

The first year tour of 1996/1997 had all the hype. People didn't care one bit if they sounded a bit off - it was KISS.

Fast forward and the decision is made to put Singer and Thayer in the trademark makeup. At first, I was pretty against it. But, as time went on, I think both guys (employees) have paid their dues and every bootleg or segment I see - they play studio-perfect.

When the talk started about replacing Paul - via his own admission the Starchild shouldn't die/retire if he left the band...that got me wondering..
Paul's unique voice is KISS...can someone really match that sound? If Paul is openly talking about it, then Gene is probably on board too, looking at the future thinking Paul has a really good idea and KISS can go on forrrrrreeevvvvveeeerrrrr and and endless river of money will ensue.

I've pondered Even and Nick stepping up into their Father's roles...that could be interesting. Possibly.

But to replace all four members and keep KISS going, well, I dunno. I am on the fence. A glorified tribute band. This ain't Menudo we're talking about..this is KISS and despite their criticized musical talent, they have built an empire and do it unlike any other band.

I would see this as some sort of non-travelling attraction, as some have mentioned a Las Vegas deal. Not sure how that would eventually wear on the four members...might seem too repetitive and being in the same venue night after night might not have the same excitement of being on the road. Sure, it would be peaches and cream for the first couple years as a new toy..but the new would wear off I bet.

Then, either way the new members go - what about new studio stuff? Would these four members have to seek Paul and Gene approval on the flavor of music? We see how style like Vinny Vincent wasn't deemed "KISS" music and they kept him down. I'm not a huge Vinny fan, but I really think his song writing and talent helped save the band at a very low point in their careers.

Would the new members conjure up new outfits? New sets? Enhance the characters by giving new special powers to each one?

I dunno...but whatever it is, I always have my memories and LPs.
The new generation can have this KISS to grow up with, get through girlfriend break-ups, cope with teenage bullying life, and seek solace in.
