Dumbest new product of all time?

Saw a commercial last night for the new Kohler "hands-free" toilet. For $300-400 for an add on kit or $900 for a new toilet, you can have a germ free experience as you simply wave your hand in the air to flush it.

Too bad you still have to lift the lid and the seat with your hands, since those are the areas covered in butt, pee and poo splash, not the handle which is normally like a foot away.

Congratulations...you just spent a ton of money to STILL touch your hands-free toilet.

I wish they'd invent something better than the damn tank chain that keeps getting twisted and makes the toilet keep running

My husband wants to install a urinal in our bathroom. I keeps telling him no.

Nothing beats a hole in the ground, is what I always say.
It's totally "hands free" as well!

I live in Ghent, which has a 9th century medieval castle.
The "toilets" were situated above the entrance gate. In case of a siege, they removed the chamber pots, so that they could do their business on the heads of the attackers.
I'm not making this up, unfortunately...
I sure hope they had armored butt-protectors or something....

We have been using bidets for years...we have three.

I don't know why Americans in general are taking so long accepting bidets...many industrialized nations have been using bidets for decades now.

At first, our own housed was reluctant to get bidets, but when mom started having memory problems, it forced our hand, and we bought one. Well, that helped mom tremendously. Then sis and I started using it, and wow, we loved it so much, we bought two more, lol.

It's way more sanitary than dry wiping with toilet paper, not even close.

BTW, I don't know anything about that toilet mentioned in the first post, but if it's also a bidet, that's hardly dumb, in fact, quite the opposite.

Bidets are not only more sanitary and cleans better, but it's also an asset to the elderly and handicap.

Ok, just found out that Kohler does not feature a bidet, then never mind, totally just a gimmick from Kohler.

                    It's a waste of money...get a bidet instead. I recommend a Toto or Brondell.

I was pretty excited when I saw the Bidet seats in Japan. I was so impressed that I took a picture! Was supposed to be the first thing to buy for my condo but I have put it off because I am cheap. I saw the commercial for the hands free that enyawd72 mentioned in the initial post. Thought it was a waste but I never even thought about having to touch the lid, and seat!

Hector, it sounds great, but I have to admit some ignorance on my part. Forgive me, because I'm just a generation past people that have used pages from old catalogs. My question is, do you stay seated or crouch over it when operating it? I imagine seated, because it seems standing would be an even bigger mess, but I'm confused because although toilet-shaped, there's no seat, exactly. Also, could I possibly fit more commas in that last sentence?

I'm not messing with you--I'm honestly curious, because I haven't really been exposed to them.

Hopefully you'll show the "before" and not the "after" :-)
