I just heard on my local TV station Bill Clinton is coming to my town tonight.

Well, not exactly my town, but the town right next to me--- only about a mile away.

We're dangerously close to political talk, but here goes:

Back when Clinton was gov. of Arkansas in the '80's, he visited the Univ. Oklahoma for some sort of regional dialogue thing, and was assigned, like all the VIPs, a "handler" to show him around backstage and stuff. Bill's was my best friend Brett, who was in the ROTC detail that was tasked with this.

Brett reounted once for me the nightmare that was Clinton--he could hardly keep up with the guy! He kept trying to get away from Brett and go talk to the cute coeds who were milling around the venue! He almost missed his stage entrance, which would have been blamed on my buddy. Brett kept having to tell him, "Gov. Clinton, we have to wait in the wings." "Gov. Clinton, we can't get this far away from the backstage area." "Gov. Clinton, you're on next." etc. He said Clinton was really rude and short with him about the whole incident.

Brett had really hoped to be former OK gov. George Nigh's "handler," as Nigh is cool and used to be a teacher at our old H.S. But, such is life.
